The owner has to know when the most recent major was...how can anyone not know or remember that?

I ALMOST bought a 348 SS (chupacabra now owns it) over my dream, an F355 for the seats alone. I ended up going with my first choice but continued to lust after those F40 seats so....

They are nice but I think the F40 seats are different again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but only in the material covering them. The F40 seats that I've seen were covered with red Nomex, I think. I believe everything else is the same.

Edit -- went and looked at some shots -- it looks like they also padded the headrest area a little more, but that and the Nomex look like the extent of the differences.

I have a "regular" 92ts but with the challenge wheels and the SS seats. I'm 6'5", 210 with a 36" waist.

It's a snug fit but not bad. Just did the FOG run where we drove from SF to Santa Barbara in a single day and I was fine.

As stated above, they are exactly the same save for the Nomex and amount of padding.

We are talking about US spec F40s not the Euro cars, they have one lice seats. The US F40 had a unique seat to conform to the passive restraint laws of the time.

Oh ok I was thinking Euro as my GTC seats are from the F40 but look completely different to your pics. Didn't know US F40's were different, thanks.

Ill have my 93 TS/SS #71 for sale soon. Red over Tan, 40K mi. kevlar seats. Front Lip, new 360 modular wheels and Pirelli tires (200 miles on them) with the original SS wheels and Tires as well. I have documentation of every service ever done on the car as well as a diary of milage from the original owner every mile he drove in the car, kinda cool. TUBI, new custom TIG welded aluminum one of radiators, recent services, gold kit...... no stories, no accidents etc..Was thinking high 40s-low 50s for the car. Am I Dreaming as well?? Suggestions for where to start listing the car other than here in classifieds? ND

I'd say low 50's if it doesn't need a current Major Service. I bought my 94 348TS SS this past Spring and was paying $49,990 for it and it needed a Major service but I was willing to pay for it because then I knew it was fresh and could have whatever else done that I wanted. The PO agreed to pay $4k when it was discovered during the PPI that it needed valve work due to high leakdown test. I don't have the Kevlar seats in my car though and alot of people want those.

What he said. I think original 348 wheels are pretty cheap, though.

"One louse" seats, not "one lice".

We just had a big FChat grammar thread this weekend.

Lice aside, I would guess the car would wholesale in the mid $30Ks, retail in mid $40Ks. IMHO, the seats were the big differentiator of the SS cars.

If that is not #98 previously in Illinois it sure looks close. I took a look at that car several years ago in my own search. Is this going to be a flood of 348 Speciale's on the market? My 1993 is also currently for sale on cars.com. It's a TB red/tan with 27,800 miles, F40 seats, front lip spoiler and last major March 2008. All necessary yearly services since then. I presently have it listed for $48,500. Any thoughts on value?

IMHO $48,000 is a good place to start. Don't give it away. 348SS are very desirable if well kept. Im the 3rd owner of my SS TB since 2001. TB is hard to find.

A potential buyer may try and squeeze you on a major that is due soon.

Soon? I'm certain that there will be unanimous consent that a major is due every 5 years. (sarcasm implied). That gives me til march 2013 on the major.

Got the appraisal done today, should have it back in a day or two.

I asked him off the top of his head roughly what he would value it at, and he said likely between $45,000-$50,000, but that was just an estimate because he has to do some research on the model, check the market, and a bunch of other factors are involved.

Once I get it back, I will post it here.

I'm curious what was your last appraisal worth? I'll be getting a new one done next year though.

    Cheers

This will be my first appraisal, I've never had one done before.

This is the reason I am getting one:

I do not have the official appraisal document yet, but he valued it at about $47,000

It is a 1993 348SS, Giallo, 21,418 miles, original everything except the shifter knob and has a pioneer CD player....major service due in a year, but the appraiser did not take that into consideration... this appraisal was done at the request of the insurance company and will be used for the replacement cost in the event that it is needed (God forbid).
