And it's cheaper, quicker, and faster than the 458, true?

No doubt it's quicker from a stoplight. In the latest Road and Track issue it was quicker 0-45 than a Bugatti Veyron Supersport which costs a cool $2.7 million. 0-60 the GTR was 2.94 seconds and the Bugatti a mind blowing 2.5 seconds!! The GTR is a blast to drive and has a huge trunk to boot (pun intended :) But let's not kid ourselves, it no 458 Italia which is one of the all time great supercars.

I'm afraid I struggle to get excited about drag races of road cars. I don't think it is the be-all and end-all of performance. Handling and making the driver feel connected to the car is much more important.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

The fact that all of those were under 13-flat is damn impressive. When people talk about the "muscle car era", they don't realize that you would have had a hard time fielding eleven stock (as delivered) cars capable of hitting under 14-flat.

It's unfortunate that MT didn't use the fastest of each example. For example, using a Z06 Corvette instead of a ZR1 put the Corvette a few places behind. Porsche, Mustang, BMW...all have faster examples. I understand, though, that it makes for a less clumped finish the way they did it.

So...help me understand...The Nissan GTR comes in first at 11.2 seconds with a speed of only 121.8MPH, while the 458 comes in second at 11.3 seconds with a speed of 125.6 MPH.

So, does this mean a slow start, but rapidly closing at the end?

The R8 which finished 3rd also had a 125+ MPH as well...so it was closing too!???

With gtr its all about launch control traction at the start. Thats why its fastest car in world at the start of a race then other cars with less weight and more hp catch up.
