I will be in Denver Oct 29-Nov 2 attending the annual SPE convention, (Oil and Gas)

I'm staying near the Convention Center at a hotel called the Hotel Monaco and would like advice on what might be fun to go and do in the evenings.

Specifically, are there any good Halloween parties at places near there? (Clubs or bars?)

    Thanks,

    Matt

Matt. I am also from Texas but living in Denver (as of last week) I am also in Oil and Gas, I think some people from our company is having a Halloween party and you are welcome as my guest. I will keep you posted, and will not be offended if you find another "better" offer for some fun :)

    Jason,

That's a fantastic offer! Thanks so much. I'll PM you today. I'm looking forward to the trip as I have only been to Denver once before. I'm going to the SPE's Annual Technology Conference and Exhibition. (ATCE) It's a big event and I'm getting there on Saturday morning so that I can have 2 days to check out Denver in advance.

    Many thanks!

    Matt

Depends on what your crowd is and what you're looking to do. Definitely check out Larimer Square and the 16th Street Mall. Cherry Creek is not too far from there, and there is a bar in the JW Marriott called "Second Home" that is typically a pretty good time on Wednesday nights....

Many thanks! I like places that aren't too loud but have a nice crowd. Not usually into clubs but I do like a nice bar. Really looking forward to my trip! Thanks!

The Monaco has a daily wine reception from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Free wine in the lobby. I was just there this weekend. Panzano (the restaurant in the hotel) also does a great Sunday brunch.

Cool. Did you like the hotel? I booked on hotels.com and it looked like a nice place. Part of my search criteria was proximity to the convention center but they also mention that there are other nice places in the area. (Restaurants etc)

Yes, we stay there all the time. We live in Boulder but whenever we go for a night out in Denver and don't want to have to drive back we stay at the Monaco. It's a Kimpton hotel and almost all Kimpton's have pretty decent restaurants.
