What year did Mondial T get auto seatbelts?

I know the 1989 Mondial T did not have the auto seatbelts, but what year did Ferrari add the automatic seatbelt mechanism?

 

Only on the Mondial t (1989 - 1993) but not on 1989 models not sure about 90 or 91, definitely 92 on has them. Hope that helps!

 

I test drove a 1992 yesterday and it had the auto seatbelts, so I guess the only question is if the 1990 and 1991 have the auto seatbelts? I thought I wanted a late model Mondial T, but I do not like the auto seatbelts, so I am going to narrow my search to the model years without the automatics.

 

I have a Mondial T Cab manufactured in Oct 1990. It has auto seat belts. They work half the time.

Both the Ferrari 348 and Mondial got motorized seat belts and knee crash padding in MY 1990.

So...... it's all about perception - - and if the damn belts are working or not!!

My Rachel has motorized belts - - their names are Melvin & Kelvin When I tell a passenger, of the manner in which the belts work, I never fail to get chuckles of approval.

My only tip to those who have "seat belt mice", is this: disconnect the belt when not in use - - so that the mice don't have to work so hard when you open the door!!!!!

My '90 348 doesn't have them - and I have the newer 2.7 motor. Maybe just tb's, not ts's?

Good tip Hank, but as you know...if you buckle up before starting the car, the mice won't move and you will have a red light...not broken, simply working as designed. The engineers assume the shoulder belts are never disconnected. If you don't use the mice, don't buckle up until after the engine is started and the mice run back. Ours are both named Topo Gigio and we love them.

Does your car have an airbag? I think auto seat belts were required in '90 for any car that didn't have a driver's airbag.

 

Nope - no airbag at all. My shoulder belts come from in between the driver and passenger and belt to a metal piece next to the door - one that doesn't move.

Is there a upside down motorized mouse that runs along the bottom of the doors? I tried to find a interior pic from tha Bradan thread. If it is a 1990 and doesn't have the motorized mouse it's either been "altered" or it's not U.S. spec.

I mean it's your car and I'm not trying to argue, Bur ALL cars sold in the U.S. had to have passive restraints starting in 1990.

It's US spec - don't know if someone altered it or not. I'll double check when I get it back.

The '89 did not have them. The seats are entirely different on the rear portions of the front seats, and the rear seats are wider, not to mention the middle rear console is narrower. I know, because I purchased a set of '89 seats and they are wrong. The front seat belts are connected differently than on the non-89 models.

All 90-93 are the same as Ferrari did not want to redesign that area: way too costly.

Motronics has nothing to do with Federal law. It was a mandate requirement, and not a motronics dictate.

I believe this is more a NA requiement. Also, there were no bags on any Mondial T

 

I know - I was suggesting it wasn't an earlier '90 which had the 2.5 but a later one that had the 2.7.

I think the design layout of Mondials with Automatic Seatbelts does not really support a manual setup. You would have to get racing seats that supports a strap-in setup.
