I'm not sure what my brother photographed and filmed with this little Canon we bought this week. When I have the drivers etc installed I'll try to post something, and hope it will give you a decent impression.

As far as I can make out, it is indeed the FF launch colour. The way to imagine this colour is a nice medium winered, metallic not evident, in shadow, and a more bright, fiery metallic red in sunlight.

Here's a still taken from some video. Quality isn't great, but you can see quite clearly how Rosso Maranello changes between direct sunlight (most of the model) and shadow (nose).

As for Nero Stellato - we just haven't found decent footage that shows the "stars" effect captured in a still. What you have to imagine is the reflective flakes acting like stars going on and off. So you see a highlight somewhere, then another a couple of centimetres away, then another, etc.. As you move your head you see the highlights going on and off.

In this still from a crappy video you can see some light points that are the "stars". With difficulty, the low resolution doesn't help. What is more clear, is the difference in colour between shadow and sunlight.

It's very difficult to describe properly, wish you could have been there.

I called my dealer and tried to get the red flaked black metallic paint and sports exhaust but my 458's already in production and I can't make any changes. OH well, Nero Daytona isn't bad.

Funny - my brother mentioned 5 minutes ago that we forgot to specify the scale model that you can get with your car. We saw an example at the Ferrari store - the detailing is amazing. Even the stitching is done in your colour! I will get in touch with my dealer to make sure we include it in the order.

Expensive, but I think a worthy token of rememberance in years to come.

What exactly is the "sport exhaust"? Is it physically different than the standard? Is it lighter? Titanium? Anybody know?

Like I said, it's so new that the Ferrari Atelier guy couldn't tell me much about it yet. As soon as I hear more I will let you know.

If my informations are correct, both 458 MY2011 press cars are assembled with the new Sport exhaust option.
No chromed look but matt grey and with a small edge at the end.

Thank for the complulation of exhaust video's. Loved the third vid where the camera car is the 4.0 GT3 RS. Wish they kept the camera shot (at 1:02)where the 458 was accelerating hard behind the GT3 to see if which car was quicker, looks like they were equal. Nice power sliding and car control by the driver of the 458! :)

Thanks very much for the videos, Luque!

It's very hard to make any definite impressions. Certain is that the 458 sounds great in every video....

I wouldn't be surprised if this option is only cosmetic, after all it's very cheap. We will find out.

Thanks a lot, Jacques - can't wait to see it myself.

But wait I must. 205 days left.... (assuming May 1st 2012). My word is this going to be a long winter.

I was, at one time, thinking of a Pozi Blue 458 and got a quote for blue CF interior elements. Wouldn't doubt that you could special order any color CF pieces.
