The Galaxy Nexus is going to be one heck of a phone. Finally a true Google experience phone for VZN after the original Moto Droid. And Android has gotten good enough with voice recognition that I feel I can finally go to a phone that doesn't have a physical keyboard.
I had the droid1 since the day it came out, I still have no clue what a "true google experience" phone means.? My friend just got the iPhone and the guy told him to keep his d1 because it's becoming collectable.
My understanding is that Google's Nexus line doesn't suffer with the "bloatware" issues that hound 3rd party Android phones. Another benefit is that the Nexus is first in line for any OS updates while the 3rd parties push the OS updates thru at their convenience.
Not sure what that means? My d1 sits in a drawer now. It has been demolished by the capabilities of my Droid Bionic on 4G/LTE. For folks who want a non-iPhone, the Android lineup is both diverse and deep.
I'm a big fan of Android. I got the D1 two years ago and a few months ago it started going crazy (the screen was getting ghost inputs), so I had it replaced under warranty. It is limited by space so I haven't refilled it with all my previous apps, which has maintained its speed. I've been holding out for the next Google experience phone, which is the Galaxy Nexus. Steve is right about Google experience phones. HTC has its Sense and Moto has its changes to the stock Android build. Only the D1 and now the Galaxy Nexus are Android phones offered on VZN without the additional bloatware. Example: I've had the ability to speak to my phone to order it to do all sorts of things since I got the Android update to 2.1 or 2.2. I can hold the search button down and say "Call Panera Bread North Eola Drive" and it will pull up the info off of Google maps and dial when I hit dial. My cousins got the HTC Thunderbolt (The first Android 4G LTE VZN phone) earlier this year and they weren't able to do the same voice recognition commands that my phone has been able to do for 18 months already. Google experience phones are the fastest phones available on Android and have the most up-to-date features (e.g. face recognition screen unlock).
I love the look if the new Motorola Droid RAZR...... Pretty clever bringing back that brand after the massive success with the RAZR flip phone, IMO. http://gizmodo.com/5850594/the-slender-and-powerful-motorola-droid-razr-smiles-for-the-camera?tag=razr [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIH771kftXQ[/ame]
Yep, but I'd wait until it gets ICS. It will be interesting to see how the new Androids do against the iphone in the marketplace: http://www.pcworld.com/article/242154/galaxy_nexus_vs_iphone_4s_vs_droid_razr_smartphone_battle_royale.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
