    My mistake. My girlfriend reminded me that I received the poster with 8 MA542. There is no artist's signature on the poster. Jerry

    If I'm not mistaken, Herb was the Detroit designer who was so impressed by the Mangusta that he gave his son the middle name "Mangusta".

    Now that makes a lot more sense. LOL

    Wouldn't Mangusta make more sense for a daughter than a son?

    Speaking of names how ironic would have been if a car named for a cobra eater had been sold in the US by Shelby?

    Hey I just saw on the Pantera forum that Jack DeRyke confirms it was done by Herb Grasse. What A relief I thought my memory was gone. Jerry

    I just heard back from Terrie Grasse who is a friend as was Herb and here is her reply;

    No, Herb did not do the poster but he did sell them. We had his and hers Panteras but Herb's love was the Mangusta. We took ours to Australia and drove it for years. Finally sold it and it is still on the road in Australia

    Looks like Mexico City-based 8MA-882, in the throes of restoration, a few years ago.
    It's on the road again, and appearing at select car meets and concours. It originally belonged to the son of a Mexican president. I correspond with its current custodian, from time to time, as I've been acquainted with that particular Mangusta since circa 1968, in Puebla, México.
    Cheers, and Happy New Year, everyone!

    That is nice, although I think some cars can become too low.

    Thanks for posting! While I find the "legacy" design admirable in many regards, I'm of the opinion that some original designs are sine qua nons, which cannot be improved upon. Lamborghini briefly considered a "legacy" version of the Miura, and ultimately decided to leave well enough alone, and the project proved to be stillborn. Better a 21st century Mangusta, with the original body design clothing contemporary chassis/running gear/electronics? But then, might that devalue the original, +401 Mangusta's? Would be interesting to read Giorgetto Giugiaro's observations, re. this proposal for a "legacy" Mangusta.

    There is at least one pic in this thread.

    I think we would be very interested in your restoration, and the alleged "sunroof" in particular.
