360 6-speed

I believe 1999 with the introduction of the 360 Modena and 2000/2001 with the 360 Spider.

 

1999 was the first year Ferrari introduced the F1 transmission. It was introduced as an option for the 1999 MY 355s. The F1 transmission was an option for all MYs in the 360 production range (1999-2005).

Edit: Just noticed I completely mis-read your post. 360s were available with a 6-speed manual in all MYs (1999-2005).

 

Unfortunately Ferrari is killing the 6-speed! There are no more "3 pedal Ferraris" and most likely we will never see another.

Ferrari is building what the majority of the market demands. If they couldn't sell them, they wouldn't build them.

 

According to Wikipedia (worth what you paid for) the F1 transmission was introduced in 1997.

 

Gosh I really miss this. It was so much more involving and engaging than my Iphone.

Yeah but you know what.........?

It never needed a re-flash, a re-boot, you didn't have to sync it, the battery never went flat, it had a real good loud ringtone, decent audio, you could cup it under your chin with ease..........

But I do like my smart phone.

 

...and it didnt hang up the call if you used it with your left hand.

 

I believe that the F1 was first available in the 98 355. I have never seen or heard of a 97 355 or earlier having the F1. The 360 had the 6 speed MT available in 1999.

 

This is the first I've ever heard of a pre '99 car having an F1 transmission. I was always told (by salesmen and very knowledgeable sources) that the F1 transmission was first introduced in 1999. I'm interested to know more.

It sounds as though the F1 was introduced in 1997 for MY 1998 cars.

Right on - the October issue of Forza has a review of Ferrari V8 cars and it states that the F1 shifter appeared on the '98 355's.

In 1998 had a MY 98 355 with a F1. It was the first year of the transmission in any Ferrari.
