We have Direct TV, generally very happy it it. The bills are getting rather high though, and our box is acting up and Direct TV doesn't want to replace it... Might want to change services, but not sure if its worth it...

ATT currently has some deal going where they pay up to $300 to have you switch from a competitor, and no annual contracts. Buts thats basically cable, right?

Anyone switch from one service to the other? Regrets? Benefits?

What do folks think of "Uverse"?

Had UVerse for a few years and loved it! We've since moved and UVerse isn't available yet, so we have to go with Comcast. It's much worse than UVerse was, and I can't wait for UVerse to come into our neighborhood.

None. Said F-U to cable/dish, etc and went with a good old-fashioned antenna for TV, and Netflix Streaming for $8/month. Mostly watch stuff on netflix, and not a lot of OTA stuff. I don't watch a whole lot of TV anyway, maybe an hour or so a day.

Just bumping this for more comments. I'm thinking of dropping DirecTv as service and content have really suffered since Murdoch sold to Malone. My cable provider is Comcast and I fired them years ago, never to return.

So...If you are or have been a Uverse user, what do you think about it?

    Thanks.

    Jack.

Very apropos for me right now; I've been with Directv more or less forever. If they drop Speed and a few others (Fox soccer etc) as seems likely right now it's the kick in the pants I need to make a switch.

In addition to DTV I have Comcast broadband - It's been very reliable and fast. [I also "upgraded" to receive their TV as well a couple of years back as the price went *down* with the bundle....]

I *almost* got Uverse a while back - I asked that they pull new cable for their install on the order ("no problem!") but the guy who came to do it wanted to "steal" the Comcast cable! I said no way as that's my existing connection and he went away, never to be heard from again!

For the Uverse users; They have "multi-room" DVR's correct? [Record on one, watch on many?] Do their decoder boxes allow streams like Netflix? If yes, wirelessly, or is ethernet needed?

    Any other comments/gotcha's on Uverse?

    Cheers,
    Ian

I use a combination of Direct TV, Netflix, and Apple Tv.

Not sure why, I'm not a sports fan, I watch very little TV, for movies I still like going to see them in the theater.

My morning coffee is now with an Ipad and flipbook instead of the newspaper or morning news.

I enjoyed the netflix service for 8 bucks when I had it would like to get it again soon. I watch alot of stuff online on various websites (hulu etc) but my family has insisted on some sort of ota service we had cableone until we recently went direct tv. Spendy for sure. But programming is pretty good and it has some nice features. Love having a dvr.

redbox is great for movies as well.
