First practice coming up in under 14 hours now. This is a very high speed track with some medium high speed turns yet very high average track speed second only to Monza. Interesting mechanical stuff here particularly at turns 1,3, and 4. I consider this track the illegitimate child of Turkey and Monza and am throwing a prediction of Mclaren wiping the floor with everyone here.

Mclaren is bringing a new front wing which is supposed to be very closely related to what next year's car will be running. RB is pretty much idling the traveling racing team preparing RB8 back home. MB is supposedly not running their ducted front wing. We'll see.

You know you're going to make speedcore very upset if you keep starting these threads, right? Keep up the good work. :)

Based on the video game version, this track will be all about high-speed straights and tight hairpins, with very little "handling section" poured into it. Illegitimate child of Turkey and Monza sounds about right.

the triple turn at turn 10 should seperate the men from the boys. It's about the same as Turkey only in the opposite direction and not quite as fast. I'm seeing a couple different racing lines being possible before and after this section so I am naturally curious to see who does what.

On another note, a shall-not-be-named younger driver tried following Schumacher in the gym the other day but absolutely could not do it. I guess Schu is just in amazing Olympic physical condition. Martin Brundle made the comments on twitter.

RB wants to break more season records they might not have another chance to break, so I don't see them just 'cruising'. They could break all-time records on poles, wins, and laps led. And possibly others. Will be interesting to see :D.

I believe the % race for those goals is done and over with.

Mansell had 14 poles in 1992 out of 16 races. 87.5% of the races. Vettel cannot numerically match that % although he can beat the number if he claims pole at every remaining race.

Schumacher won 13 out of 18 in 2004 which is little more than 72% of the races, so if this year's season ended in India and Vettel won, the record would still stand. Numerically, Seb could tie the record by winning every remaining race this year.

Mclaren is still pushing and RB has put their efforts to the 2012 season. Newey himself even said he is diverting himself to 2012 which is why he is no longer going to races this year.

Saw where Barrichello predicted 1:27-1:28 lap times using F1 2011 (online with FM) and shared that Maldonado had only gotten down to high 1:29's on the Williams sim.

Shows how dirty the track is when "virgin."

I thought the FiA said you had to have a race in advance of F1 to "certify" the circuit?

<<oops, see that cars from the "JK Asia Formula" have been out.>>
