Congrats, its been fun watching this project. Looking forward to following the race, and continuing to watch this story unfold. I have been under the general impression that 100lbs=1 second per lap on a track; obviously this varies by track, but without ballast would you think that this would translate to atleast 2-3 seconds on the ring?

Also, hoping that you make more backpacks, taking my first trip to Europe this spring, and would love to represent SCG.

    Very cool Jim.

I'm guessing that with no ballast, a motor on full power, no traffic and no wet spots you could dip under the seven-minute mark??

I'd love to see a true test of what she's capable of in maxed-out mode before you bring her home to the streets of New York.

A sub-seven minute ring time would make for a pretty wicked bumper sticker on a road car.

    :)

    Very interesting!!! And good luck!

    But one question -

Will Ferrari allow you to say it is a "Ferrari" record?

(yes, we know it really is -)

Take out the ballast, up the HP and beat the 599XX time of 6:58.

    Wow!! Thats pretty spectacular!!!

Who was the driver on that lap?? How consistent are those times from one lap to the next? How many laps were run before getting that time?

I have so many questions, but I dont want to take a lot of your time - you need to be doing other things!!

    But WOW!!! Congrats!!!

All of the drivers are very close. Keep in mind that there was also construction on the course so we were slowed on the straight.

We still have a lot of development in the works and we'll be faster next year.

We didn't race as we found a broken piston after the testing session.

We're re-engineering the pistons and valve train and will be testing again in a few weeks.

Our next race will be in March with a further developed version.

Has the 'Ring vid been posted on youtube yet?

Remind me of the rules for this particular record. Just to clarify: Because this racing car of yours is able to be registered on the road it is very much a road car obviously going for the road car record. This in essence means the 599XX lap time under 7 minutes does not really count for much as it is not a road machine.

some of the road legal car top lap times of interest are:

    Viper ACR: 7:22
Gumpert Apollo 7:11 (hardly road legal right!)
Radical SR8LM 6:48 (same as above! nuts)
Ferrari 458 and Porsche Carrera GT 7:32
    Porsche 911 GT2 RS 7:18
Lexus LFA (with special 'ring package) 7:14

This particular record is cute but frankly means very little.

A lot depends on the weather and the condition of this section of the course.

We're set up to race on the Full course so set up and aero is different.

If all your going for is a "record" on this section you'd use special tires even if they are "street legal" as you'd shave them a lot.

We running HP restricted and without restriction we'd have 150 more HP and without ballast required to race we'd be a lot lighter.

The purpose of our testing which happened to be on the Ring Course most know of was to see what we have to develop to be competitive in the 24 next May a lot different than if we wanted to set a "record" on this section. If that was our goal we'd easily be below 7 minutes.

    We weren't running video.

We're faster than pur last 24 but still have a lot of work to do.

    That's a great time.

Can you share how much quicker you are now in Evo form compared to the original spec?

We're faster but still have a lot of things in the works and a ways to go.
This was really a test for us.

We'll know more as we move along.

Your team and effort continue to illustrate the old axiom: Speed costs money, get out your checkbook, how fast do you want to go?

We appreciate the wonderful effort that is known as "P 4/5 C".
The pair of P 4/5 cars are really amazing cars to behold.

I wish there were many more people like you willing to give the major manufacturers a run for their money.
    God bless, and God Speed!
