Yeah agreed. By the time Hopkins saw the replays and realized that it was actually his left elbow that made hard contact with the canvas, it was too late to change the location of the injury from his shoulder to the elbow
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS66PkqOaTc[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW8n5g7iHZY&feature=related[/ame] Pac says its the most important fight of his career.
What a great fight. Angulo and Kirkland, only flaw was ref should have let the KO happen. Again with the premature stoppage. The under card was even worse in that respect. That's what ruins boxing more than anything else. Civilized fighting is worthless. Bute and Johnson was a dog because Bute carried his buddy. Friends should never fight. On a side note, heard that Pacquiao didn't drive his new 458 to Jimmy Kimmel show because it wouldn't start. Ha. All that technology, but somethings never change.
Final thoughts on Pacquiao Marquez? Pacquiao faces allot of pressure to knock this guy out. I think Roach is right when he say's the fight will go no more than 6 rounds. Also, the fans will once again feel cheated and ticked off they paid $60.00 to see a one sided thrashing. The history between these two helps mask a terrible mismatch.
Pacman will make short work of him. I'd say within 6 rounds also. I have a friend from Mount Isa that will be there watching it live. I will keep an eye out for Joe also, didn't he say he had seats ringside? Be sure to wave Joe when the cameras are on you.
My friend ran into Roy Jones Jr last night at the MGM. Said he was a very cool guy. The lucky SOB! I love RJJ!!
Dear me, not the fight I expected or the end result I expected. All the undercard fights were sensational also!!
Marquez is the only fighter that has given Pacquiao a run for his money, and he proved that again tonight. More bull**** in boxing like always though.
Every top fighter has one opponent that gives them a hard time over the course of their career. For Pacquiao, this is Marquez. Proven three times now to be a challenge for the Pacman. Which I am sure Pacquiao enjoys taking on the challenge. Keeps him alive. If we DO see a fourth fight between them (I hope we don't) I bet it will still be a close decision at the end of 12 rounds of boxing. Could go either way, just like it did today. *I personally think it should have been a split decision victory to Marquez*
Whoa, well I guess I have to eat crow on that one. Very surprising. It may be Pacquiao now looks for an excuse not to fight Mayweather. A counter puncher with much more speed. Not pretty for Pac.
Styles make fights. I think Marquez got Robbed, But I am happy Manny won! A 4th. fight is not what i'd like to see anytime soon.
I had Marquez vs Pacquiao at a draw at the very least. Realistically it should have been Marquez with the decision but that's boxing for you. No point in putting on the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight, Mayweather will win via decision unless a miracle happens for Pacquiao. I'm going against the consensus here and say we do a fourth fight to this storied rivalry.
Armen, I was there and I think Manny over-trained. He looked like his energy level wasn't what it used to be. Crowd was on their feet several times though. Man, I never saw so many dedicated Phillipinos in my life, they love that man!
You ain't seen nothing Joe. I went to Hawaii with my Wife for our honeymoon 2 years ago. Pacman was fighting Clotty. We watched the fight in a sports bar. Went early to get a seat and it was already PACKED with Phillipinos. They went OFF. Small world. Watched the fight at the local pub the other day. And as usual................... we must have had EVERY PHILLIPINO IN MOUNT ISA packed in the pub to watch the Pacman! They sing along to their national anthem and everything. Kids, Mum, Dads..........they all show up to watch the man in action and they clap, cheer and cry with every punch thrown. So passionate and I have never seen anything like it before. Well, I have. EVERY Pacman draws the same Phillipino crowd/community to watch his fight. It's actually a really good atmosphere having them there. I enjoy myself more.
Cotto Margarito II. How bout this one. The first fight was excellent. It will be interesting to see how much each fighter has left. Yes, Margarito may have had loaded gloves, but he walked right through Cotto. Cotto is fresher, but I can't see him a clear cut winner. What do you think?
I'd like to see Cotto win. Even if the gloves werent loaded, that would have been a tough fight fight for Cotto. Margarito just might be that one guy who Cotto can't defeat. I'm a HUGE beleiver of styles make fights. His style might be too much for Cotto. I hope i'm wrong like ALWAYS!
