I really don`t see what the problem is.

in any case, the fabspeed products are very well made and the fit and finish are a very good quality. all I have been hearing on this site for the last few years is customers happy with the product from fabspeed.

You hear it is made in taiwan or parts from taiwan and somehow it now is a bad product.

Now, can you buy this from Taiwan? probably but if you have a problem, will they warranty?, what would it take to get satisfaction if there is a fit or quality problem.
and god forbid you have a question on installation.

1 - The Fabspeed product is priced far less than factory and some other manufacturers
2 - They are local to handle any quality issues - heck, you can actually go to their shop if you are close enough
    3 - lifetime warranty
4 - and the products looks great

    what more do you want?

    Best Regards, Jim

I have Fabspeed headers on my 360 and all I can do is share my experiences. The headers themselves ooze high quality, they look great on the car and perform as intended. The design is very good quality, the welds are superb, they weight less and I haven't heard of any of them failing. Furthermore the power and improved mid range torque is noticeable and I'm very happy with them. I would recommend them to others.

I am still shocked about how much negativity is posted about items being fabricated or part made in China. The reality is that many Chinese companies have invested heavily in equipment, training and infrastructure. Quality is never an accident and it has no relevance to consider geographic location alone. Any part is only as good as its original design, equipment, staff training and quality control. The modern day reality is that the vast majority of products you use everyday have parts are made in China in them... For example, your iPhone, where do you think that was made? Yes China and USA figure big-time in an iPhone's BOM (Bill of Material's)...

    Software and design........ Apple USA
    WIFI Chip...................... Marvell USA
Touch screen control chip Broadcom USA
    CMOS chip..................... Micron USA
NOR Flash ICs................. Intel, SST USA
    Assembly....................... Foxconn Taiwan
Case, Mechanical parts.... Foxconn Tech Taiwan
    Camera lens................... Largan Precision Taiwan
Camera module............... Altus-Tech, Primax, Lite On, Taiwan
    Battery Charger.............. Delta Electronics Taiwan
    Timing Crystal................ TXC Taiwan
    Passive components........ Cyntec Taiwan
Connector and cables..... Cheng Uei, Entery Taiwan
TFT-LCD Screen Sanyo Epson, Sharp, TMD Japan
    Video processor chip Samsung Korea
    Touch screen overlay Balda Germany
Bluetooth chip Cambridge Silicon Radio UK
    Chip manufacture TSMC, UMC Taiwan
    Baseband IC Infineon Technology Germany
Display Driver chip National Semi, Novatek US, TW
    etc.

The fact of the matter is you'll find thousands of components in your Ferrari made in China too (shock, horror!) and also Europe and USA among many other locations. Its absolutely ridiculous to consider something inferior based on its manufacturing locations. Its all in the quality control, design and automated testings.

I think you have seriously missed the point. The problem is not with the source of the product or the quality but with the country of manufacture. I understand the headers can be purchased direct for $800 but with the sponsor claiming they are US manufactured he is able to add a huge markup! That is the problem! Wake up!

The sponsor has used his position to pretend they are a US made product and has then continued to pedal a lie. See a problem yet? Maybe not if you like being lied to. The sponsor needs to address the issue, come clean, tell the truth and move on. I assume they are now an ex sponsor on the forum!

    Most customers want the Truth.

I'm not worried about the parts being made in China. My APPLE phone is made in China, the cats on my car are from Taiwan. Only problem here is someone saying we are making them here in the USA (which doesn't happen much due to cost) and using the "made in the USA" a sales pitch. Whole time that is being said containers are being shipped in from Taiwan. That is the only problem. LYING. Why lie?

I doubt anyone here is going to rip off their Fabspeed products and throw them away but I'm sure they don't have a real good feeling about Fabspeed like they used to.

I think the issue is that fabspeed claimed these to be fabricated in-house when it's imported from Taiwan.

Trev, you are a true Ferrari fan, but you are so wrong on this. The problem isn't the product, it's the lie. If you read the threads, Fabspeed have continually said the headers are US made - they are not. They lied! That's the problem. Sounds like the product is good - that's fine but not the issue.

Capristo says all of their products are made in Germany. I am sure they are?

Rob, I'm not sure starting to cast doubt's about other peoples products is the best way to address this issue. Can I suggest you take your own advice and start a new thread!

Russell I can see your point clearly and I think there is definitely more information that needs disclosure to get to the bottom of any advertising claims.

It is worth noting that many companies say or imply a product is made in a given country but the reality is most things are made from many countries, even your typical restaurant meal is!!

... For example everyone automatically presumes Ferrari's are made in Italy but its only mostly the final assembly is done there (and engine block, etc.). Thousands of parts from all around the world come together to make the final product.

In the case of these headers the final assembly and manufacture (including welding) has allegedly been completed in the US, with some components coming from the China. If they claimed 100% made in the USA I can understand the upset but its no different to many other parts or products.

    Two issues.

    Truth in advertising.

    Quality of product.

Fabspeed may indeed sell a beautiful, functional exhaust, and they may do it for less than Capristo or Tubi, I don't know about that as I do not have one of their exhausts, nor have I toured their facility. IF their product is a good one, then the second issue should have been a non issue from the start.

Truth in advertising. Made in USA. That's a strong claim. All of the products I sell are made in my factory in Aston, PA. All of the raw materials come from mills in the USA. We use Chinese foil for our stamping presses, and this is a component of my product, but I still claim my stuff is Made in the USA, because it is.

Assembled in the USA. That's more like what we seem to have going on here. Some parts are fabricated here, some in Taiwan. If the quality is good, then Fabspeed could have made that clear without any damage being done to its reputation. I doubt anyone here who bought an exhaust from Fabspeed would have shopped elsewhere if they had been informed in advance that some component parts are imported. After all, there's a price advantage to buying Fabspeed, right? That advantage had to come from somewhere.

But it's a slippery slope. Once you claim, "Made in USA" and get caught, then you're jammed up and have to backtrack. That's the unenviable position that Fabspeed appears to be in at this time. No easy way to do that when your own posts here make the claim, "Made in USA."

I think that's the real issue. The honesty of the claim "Made in USA" is in question, not the quality of the product.

Russel, tbh, I've only quickly scanned the hundreds of posts today. Bottom line for me is they are actually a good product. The line about being made in US is probably (and yet to be determined) a little bit of marketing since final assembly being done in the USA. I don't particularly like this kind of claim but I guarantee they are not alone...

Whomever made the CAD designs, manages the product quality and does final qa and inspection can charge 'whatever the market demands', its their design - we are in a low volume, premium segment, look how much people are charging for Carbon parts over here.

Hope everyone can reach a good situation with all of this because the product is good and Stef has also been a good contributor on here, cannot quite agree with the way he 'broke' the news but hell, what's done is done.

You need to do a search and read some of the other posts, not just on FChat, there has been a consistency to the complete US manufacture story that only with this thread has softened to the final assembly story. Several threads have directly asked Fabspeed about various stories regarding manufacture and the response has been complete US manufacture - no if's no buts.

If u ask Stef himself he says he wants to expose untruthful marketing in the entire aftermarket parts business. This is his thread and those were his words.

    +1 Good post

I guess if you weld up the parts could you technically claim it was made in the USA? Hmmm, difficult, I prefer your 'Assembled in the USA' claim.

Russell, please explain where I was wrong in what I posted?

I posted about my experiences with the product (favorable) and that most products are multi-national affairs (citing iPhone :) ). The claim about being 'Made in USA' is what seems to be irking most people. I didn't even mention that in this first post but I completely see your point.

Made in USA is regulated by the FTC. It has very specific guidelines.

There are a number of rules that apply, more info here.

OK, I stand corrected - do the exposé!

I'm not familiar with Capristo claims and what you are suggesting so would be good to spell it out, a question from you doesn't expose untruthful marketing. A statement of fact would do that.

I felt you thought the critism was about the source of the product and the quality of the product, not an issue I believe. The only problem is the many posts from Fabspeed that claim complete manufacture, even when directly queried over the source of the product. No more, no less.

And, importantly at least to me, is the earlier posts by Fabspeed on THIS FORUM wherein they attempted to sell/market to our community and seem to have made untrue statements. This is not about a "made in XX sticker" they had on their product. Nor is it about the quality of their products.

To me, its about abusing this forum and attempting to treat us like morons. I feel like they directly tried to lie to me. This isn't some stupid "made in XX" sticker debate...
