The new one. "Portrait of a Sioux." Acrylics 20X30 There's so much paint on the canvas, it's difficult to tell which shade is coming from where - very textural. I love the depth of color and layer in person. Excuse the cell phone picture. For sale, oddly enough. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some from a good friend of mine. I normally look at art and see just colors but with some of hers I actually see some beauty. She's got a theme/series with bird, Twiggy. Other one is just something I like and bought from her. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
finished out Dino series with a Warhol homage of sorts, for a friend... ...finished collage is poster size, to big to scan, and this pic isn't as clear as i'd like ...but second image shows how clear & detail the original has Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
have been working insane hours past weeks for past couple of months, but have been slowly working on a new set, for a f-chat friend (image kind of gives it away) started out with some basic line sketches..... ....stepped it up to make a cleaner ink illustration, using a repeating body-shoulder contour of the 308, instead of a reflection in the cars paint, to illustrate a black finish next i'm working on some backgrounds, merging the shield motif into background (cleaned up of course) with the final car ink illustration (pics when all done) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Grant coming from you that really means something! Love the 288 GTO painting! you must have a fair sized scanner? ...reminds me, i've yet to go get some yupo & try out
Ink drawings have so much expression. The line quality, shading techniques... great medium. There is an artist on FChat that goes by the name Bushwacker. Look up his posts with his line drawings... marvellous work. Thx for commenting on my GTO. I wish I had a scanner!! Got an Canon DSLR a couple years ago with a couple kit lenses. That was my major art equipment purchase for quite some time... Learned in college (light years ago) how to set up artwork for shooting so i have been using the camera as an impromptu scanner... What i DO need a scanner for is to get all my film prints digitized. Years of car shows, hundreds of prints... The camera wont suffice for that. Someday... Good luck with the Yupo.. quite frustrating at first. You cant fight it's odd (compared to paper) qualities. You have to use the them to your advantage. So be prepared to give it a chance. Remember: fingerprints are the enemy!! GT
for doing pen/ink on yupo, what type/brand is best to get? ...for staying color-fast? i think i'll start with something like that first, simpler then a water-color straight away
Love the 308. The shield reminds me of one of my backgrounds. I do the same as you; create background templates and then paint the cars on top. Keep up the good work! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love the look of your work! too kool! is it all digitally rendered? mine is "way" more low-tech LOL all pencil/ink on 11x17 bond, then to try different colorings (like the Dino water colors), or different backgrounds, i photocopy the original drawing onto heavy stock paper, but to the point the lines are very light & grey essentially, each time i have to re-draw the car and new background together that is something i've wanted to try and learn, to render and work my car art in digital format!?
All the backgrounds are original artwork. I then have them professionally scanned and put on disk. I then print a copy of the background on canvas. Once the canvas is stretched, I then hand-tint the background (like the last picture). Once dry, I sketch the car in my chosen location and begin to paint. I use acrylics mixed with a bit of colored gesso to keep the background from showing through the paint. Here are a few of the pieces displayed at the FCA Annual Meet in June. I painted live at the event because everybody thought it must be Photoshop! Please excuse the camera phone pic! Image Unavailable, Please Login
