I seem to be becoming the official AZ Ferrari de-Flowerer of late. :)

This past weekend there was a group drive, involving several car clubs that involved one of my favorite Arizona roads. My object was to make as short a work as possible of the mountain switchbacks.... and the group for that matter!

In AZ we have a group of guys that we call the 'car-parazzi', as they seem to be at allot of car events with snapping cameras always at the ready.

Over the week leading up to the drive I got a PM from one of these exotic fans, asking if I had an open seat. He is one of the biggest posters on this site... I think somewhere over 18K posts, which boggles my mind!

As he takes his place in my right seat, somehow it came out (to my surprise), that with all his enthusiasm for Ferrari... for all his participation in this site, he had never been in a Ferrari! Another first!

Fortunately, he got to experience the CS and all its visceralness as his first Ferrari experience. He did let on that the 355 is #1 on his wish list. Hopefully, this drive put that goal a little further up his life's list.

Well...I'll come clean. It was me!! :D

I've never ridden in a Ferrari before. I was ecstatic, I normally don't bother people for rides as it seems strange to me to ask a 'stranger' and I recently went on a drive (in a NISMO 350Z) but they had a passenger already. There was no way in hell my car could keep up or even be fun to drive those roads in my Accord, so I had to PM Dino and asked. In the few people I've asked (Lotus, Dino, and a Gallardo Superleggera) they have all been accommodating and incredibly friendly.

I had someone else call me a 'car-parrazi' and I had no idea what they meant. I think the first thing I told Dino was that I had never been in a Ferrari before and he, like he said here was surprised. The Gallardo Superleggera was also my first ride in a Lamborghini. I'm incredibly motivated now though, a 355 will be mine! :D I've always loved Ferrari and the design and the racing heritage, and where I've lived, I rarely saw them. In Austin, I rarely see a Ferrari in town, I think I saw a yellow 550 or 575 many years ago.

I have some Go-Pro footage (it's overexposed and you can't see anything out the windows) and a clip from my DSLR but I wanted to enjoy myself and didn't film much or take pictures. The CS is incredible, I was loving every shift and every time Dino got on it, it had went and made the noise that went along with it.

Thanks again, Dino, that was such a rush.

    Thanks! :D

I actually forgot to post the clip, so here it is, I didn't feel like holding the camera and recording, plus we got stuck behind a few cars and a motorcycle so I stopped recording:

My first ride in a Ferrari was in the drivers seat !

John (Corbani) handed me the keys to his 246GT and said "I think its not running right, what do you think?" and off we went. Of course I drove up in my Dino (FIAT Dino) so I already knew what to expect motor wise, but everything else was so incredibly awesome.

Dino's F-car devirginalization powers do not stop at the AZ border...he SOLD me my first one! :) Still waiting for the awesomeness to wear off, but it's pretty stubborn!

Congratulations Ashwin - that sounds like an awesome adventure!

And good luck for getting that 355. Fancy a race to Ferrari ownership? Last one there buys the other one a congratulations cake. ;) :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I'm glad you had a great time. If we had left a bit earlier, we would have had much less traffic.

Now the object is to get you on track for that 355! :)

Congrats! I often tell people to show enthousiasm and be easy to get along with and you will find it's much easier than you think to get a ride in a Ferrari. A lot of the owners in Dutch F-chat section let non-owning enthousiasts drive, as well. There has never been anything less than full respect from both sides, and that's what makes the experience much more memorable. I've had enormous pleasure handing over my 550 to various F-chatters.

Long may that tradition continue. The word "Ferrari" only takes it's true meaning over 6,000 rpm!

We were waiting at a gas station and I jokingly told Dino that if he got tired on the way back down to Phoenix, that I'd be more than willing to drive.

I loved those wheels and the seats, great first Ferrari though!

Depends on what kind of cake! :D

That makes me want to trek out to the San Diego area!:D
