With the EFI, NASCAR could have a pit limiter coded into the chip, so staying in first gear might work. Pit speed on entry would change a little bit due to tire size being different, but once a new set of tires was on the car, pit speed would remain the same across the board.

This is a bit O/T, but I found out today that one of my co-workers is a grandson of Herb Thomas, one of NASCAR's early heroes, who won the championship in 1951 and 1953 and was, supposedly, the inspiration for the Doc Hudson character in the movie Cars.

The sizing isn't THAT significant, and I think they have a 5 mph 'fudge factor' in already built-in, but folks still push THAT to the limit, that's why they get caught.

I had a friend that had a Hudson Hornet when we were in high school, circa 1974-76, that was a SWEET car, not restored or anything, faded paint, original interior, still a SWEET riding (and very quiet) car.

will EFI be tied in to GPS and/or transponders? if so I would think that would be really easy to enforce.

    agreed.

I dunno, Rick Hendrick dumped Kyle Busch for Casey Mears.

    DEI let Jr. walk away.

Penske tried to make Sam Hornish into a Cup driver.

    Next up we have Danica...

Mikey should dust off ol' DW for the other races. :D

yeah but those were established teams having brain farts. MWR has yet to make a good personnel move; be it drivers, engineers, executives, owners.

and the Danica deal is brilliant, everyone's gonna get rich. thats the point of NASCAR, right? ;)

MWR is a brain fart trying to form a good team. What Mikey has going for him is Toyota FACTORY support - if he didn't have that he never would have done it.

I don't know any 'poor' owners in nascar SPRINT CUP (of the established teams).

There is a reason Tony left an established team to run his own, and it's not because he didn't want to drive a japanese-badged marque.

Any of the Kyle Busch/Kevin Harvicks that think they can mint money owning the different series' teams is dreaming.

maybe the best line in this thread :D

JGR is THE factory Toyota team, IIRC MWR gets engines from TRD but not much else (?).

wow, Kyle just wrecked Hornaday (title contender) under yellow in the truck race.

they need to park that little punk for the remainder of the NASCAR season.

Mikey is very well-intentioned, he has done very well for himself, you cannot take that away from him, but he should just go work TV. But ownership is lucrative - as long as you have a sponsor. Take 10% off the top, the rest goes to the team, easy money.

it's funny, both DW and Mikey have been trading off DW's career for the last 25 years. and done very well for themselves, too.

I would love to see the breakdown of revenues for Cup teams, sponsor/winnings/etc. I imagine it mirrors F1 more closely than we think.

tomorrow morning is going to be interesting.

last time something like this happened (with Kevin Harvick, oddly enough), he got parked for the weekend, including the cup race. I see this happening here, which takes him out of the chase (he's pretty much out of it anyway).

wonder what exit clauses JGR and Mars have...

Yep, last night I was wondering why Gibbs puts up with his crap. I rationalized it as Gibbs use to dealing with "difficulty personalities" during his NFL days.
