Strike in Ferrari

What does this mean? Factory workers are on strike? What are their reasons?

 

I think they're protesting for more money, better hours, and working conditions. I've heard from several well-known Ferrari techs that Ferrari, Spa have a very hard time keeping help for long periods of time.

I used to live in Italy. strikes are not unusual and different than in the US. Alitalia had 1100 stikes in one year. A flight crew would abandon the plane for an hour and that was a strike. I went to Ferrari one time on a pre arranged visit by Brenda Vernor and by the time I left home in Rome and got to the Factory (3 hrs) there was a strike. Lasted a day.

If the workers come back so easily, what's the point? Are working conditions in Italy so bad? That is very odd...

 

working condtions are excellent; lot of time off, good benifits, hard to get fired, early retirement and pretty good pay.. NOT going to comment on the 'WHY"

My impression of the factory was just that as stated above. It was clean, good work environment, but more than that I have no idea whats really going on. Our guide said pay was low, but then again she was a tour guide. I saw lots of people riding bikes to and from work but then again its europe and it's a small town.

All i know is those workers make one hell of a product.

Interesting. From from the rough translation, it seems like a case of the tail (workers) trying to wag the dog (Fiat).

As with all of these articles, it is unclear to me why Fiat is making some of these changes.

How objective and unbiased is the news reporting in Italy? Do journalists/newspapers side with the workers in these types of situations?

 

I'd be weary of the quality of work performed on the cars when employees get back to work.

I had heard previously that Ferrari workers were amongst the happiest in the world. Guess not haha
