Help needed on value of 40's 166 brochure

I've got what looks to be an original 1948 or 1949 Ferrari 166 brochure and have no idea what it is worth. I've seen a few similar ones from the 40s go across the ebay block for $1,500 and up but can't find another one anywhere like mine. Any help or guidance on its value would be greatly appreciated - in this economy I don't want to let it go for significantly less than its value. I've attached a few pictures of it...thanks in advance for your help!

Hi great brochure! In my opinion the brochure is worth anywhere between $1,000-$2,000. I've seen them all in that range.

 

If it's real and it looks to be about 7K retail.

As an aside that's 002 on the cover.

 

What gives it a way that it looks genuine?

Just curious what the differences are between the fakes and the real deal.

You really need to examine it very carefully.

Experts can tell.

There are a lot of reprints out there.

The one I have has handwritten notes in English.

The folds often come apart over time.

There are experts who trade in these and hopefully will comment.

Thank you! That is what the same amount that Nunzio from FerrariLiterature quoted. I am assuming it is real as it was in a box with lots of old, rare brochures that were all put in protective sleeves. All others appear original and are from that era (although I think this is the only Ferrari one) so I would have to think it is original based on all of the contents of the box. Any idea on the best way to sell it?

 

I'm telling you , $20 is fair with the recession, these things aren't flying off shelves. Besides who wants a brochure to a car that hasn't been produced in over 60 years? The market is so small and there are reprints out there which have serious diminished the value........ Did I mention it was $20 cash???

 

The Dealers will have to find a buyer and that will take time so I'd see what they'd offer keeping in mind it will be less than retail.

Another thought is to offer it at an Auction like Goodings/RM/Bonhams. They all have Motorbelllia Auctions tied in with their Auto Auctions. That's the way to monetize the ones you have.

I would consider buying it if its in the 1-2K range but based on the credible advice in this thread...possibly worth a lot more.

Hey guys, no way that brochure is worth $7k and no way you would get even half of that money no matter where you sell it. Its worth between $1k and $2k that is all. Even the 250TR brochure isn't worth $2.5k.

An expert needs to authenticate it, to achieve a reasonable price.

Nobody pays big dollars through fleabay.

 

Well - I did sell the brochure off ebay...the interesting thing is since I sold it I've had multiple offers in the $5K - $8K range, so it is definitely worth more than $1-2K. I expect Nunzio from FerrariLiterature to make a post here soon as he also has a buyer willing to pay $5K for it should the new owner wish to sell it.
