Good. That will keep Mercedes GP irrelevant in F1

I have heard the same and that further extension is entirely dependent on car performance, which is pretty obvious really. People in Brackley are saying Michael remains the most focused person they have ever seen..... the guy is an animal. He should stay as long as he is performing and loves what he is doing.

"There is no reason why Michael should not continue. He's very valuable to the team and has not lost his edge," said team boss Ross Brawn.

Michael Schumacher hinted that he is not yet ready to return to retirement.

"I have proved I can run in the races faster than my teammate Nico Rosberg; overall we are on the right track. It is unlikely that in 2012 we will be in a position to go for the title, because first we need to lay down the foundation that we can then use in 2013," he added.

As a sidenote, MB and RB are confirmed as the quickest teams in the pits this season with RB having the highest average for 8 races and MB for 7 races with just a hair splitting the two

+1 Just give the guy the right car, I have no doubt had he been in the RB this season, he would have had a number of wins.

    Fixed it for you! :)

Having said that, there's probably about half a dozen guys that could have done the same in that car. [May have to start a "Webber sucks" thread - May at least divert some attention from my man!..... :) ;) ]

    Cheers,
    Ian

I really hope schumacher can win more races before he's gone for good. I don't think he's the problem it's the car.

I would agree. Unfortunetely today's F1 cars are fickle, they usually suit only one of two drivers on the team. McLaren appears to be the exception. Both drivers seem to like that chassis.

    Said the #2 driver...... :)

Seriously, while your comment is very true, they've always been that way - One guy gets a little early luck coupled with bad luck for his compadre and *bam*!..... ;)

The former instantly becomes the de facto #1 and we move on. [Sometimes, not always ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Tillman is not only poignant but right. If MB were serious they would build the car around Nico and use MS as a consultant.

Instead the article mentions how MS gets preferential treatment.

Haug's priorities are all wrong. Not surprising. They should have stayed with what they do best: build a powerful engine

No, he's not. MS receiving a contract extension was what he was commenting on, not all the other details you mentioned. I have to ask, who would he rather have in the seat? And don't say Di Resta...

MBZ has a good balance right now, a youngster with speed and a seasoned veteran who happens to be the most successful driver ever. I see no reason not to resign MS as long as he wants to be there. The results have been coming. If he had another season like last year I would agree with Tillman's sentiments, but he hasn't.

Even as a huge MS fan, I will say that there is no way he would have been able to beat Vettel in equal equipment. Sebastian has been simply sublime all season and for some reason I feel as though he doesn't get enough credit for it.

Except MS has had worse luck and 3 more DNF's and is only 5 points behind Nico and has beaten him in every race they finished since Germany.

So on the one hand, we have the theory that MB is not serious with their billions-of-dollars investment in F1.

And on the other hand, we have the opposing theory that MB is very serious, and perhaps know a wee bit more about MS, NR and their team performance than the F-chat Schumi-haters.

Hmmmm.... very tough call, both are reasoned and cogent arguments, buuuuut I think I am gonna have to go with the latter :)

W02 was not designed around Michael any more than RB6 or RB7 were designed around Vettel. Also, Nico and Schu's drivings styles require the same handling characteristics so suggesting a car is built for one or the other is useless. He's Michael Schumacher, he should get preferential treatment. The guys has 7 championships worth of experience and more.

MS seems to have all the drive and work ethic he had when he was at Ferrari, at least that's what I read. I'm sure if you're around him you want to help make him win because he works and tries so hard.

I don't believe MB can do it unless Nico knows they have a few engineering aces arriving from other teams we'll only be hearing of after this season's end.
