Monogram/Revell are going to do the Oldsmobile 1950 Carrera Panamericana "city of roses" car in 1/24th scale. The decals will be printed in Italy. Also a photo of the new 1/24th MOEBIUS Hudson kit. I hope they do more race versions including a Pan Americana car.
I saw both at the I Hobby show in Chicago along with the Scale Motorsports Ford Mustang Shelby Revell 1/12th transkit. The Revell Old's testshot was on display and looked very nice.

Latest photos of the 1/20th Hiro BRM H16 with 2 versions and the Hiro 1/12th Lotus 79 Ford/Cosworth engine parts. Amazing stuff, althought if you are going this far why on earth would you cast the actual engine block in several pieces? They should have done a 1 part casting of the main block just like on the real engine. Connecting rods and a crank would also have been nice:)

Simil R are also doing a limited edition 1/24 kit of the 2011 Le Mans Pescarolo Judd driven by Emmanuel Collard, Christophe Tinseau and Julien Jousse.
Due out in 2012 you will have to be a member of Association Pescarolo 2011 in order to get one and there will be only 500 made.

Stig, very interesting. I wonder if they will make another version as 500 wont cover the tire mold cost if its plastic/rubber. Is it plastic?

Here are 2 more Joe Honda Hiro F1 books and the 1/20th 312B 1971 box art.

    Joe Honda:

    Lotus 99T and 100T
    Ferrari F187 and F187/88C

Can't say enough how nice these books are. They offer more vintage color photos than any other publication I have seen and are made by modelers for modelers. Joe Honda
has a huge collection of photographs going back to the 1960's. These are like the old Meri Ferrari F1 books only twice as big.

Really have to wonder about that - it is a plastic kit. The model is supposedly 126 parts and soft tires are definitely included in that. There is something else referred to as far as packaging that I can't translate but it does say numbered and other surprises so maybe something from Pescarolo is included by the way of swag.
Cost appears to be € 60.

In the hope someone will do a kit of this car here are lots of photos. Pattos Place does make 1/24th scale decals if anyone wants to convert the street 1/24th scale Revell 458(Fujimi 458 is simple like a toy). All taken at Road America when the Risi 458 won its first race.

Guys from Simil'R are very close friends , so I can answer to your question.

The limited edition of this kit is only for "Pescarolo 2011" club members.
It comes with a special box, numbered, and some goodies inside (sorry I'm not allowed to say more).
Production : 500 pcs, limited in quantity but not in time !
It will be available for Christmas period.

But of course, the kit with standard box will be in the Simil'R range in first months of 2012.

That's true, cost production are too high to produce only 500 kits
All design and ingineering, molds, production, instruction sheet are done in France.
Only decals are printed in Italy by Cartograf.

For information, Ford GT kit will be available in France for the third week of november

I kind of figured thats what they were doing. I take it this is more of a hobby for the owner than a business if he is doing everything in France instead if Asia/eastern Europe. Maybe it will be done right then!!!

Here is a box art photo of the crazy full detail Hiro Lotus 79 in 1/12th scale. It looks like it will be around $700.00+ for this kit. That is cheap if you consider the detail, very limited quantity and production in Japan. I wonder how much money Hiro is not making this year:)

In fact, molds of the first model (Focus WRC) were done in China.
Work with China is very difficult if you don't have a guy in the country to check all steps.
So the "Focus" project was very very long to do, with lot of problems.
Molds came back to France, but were deeply modified for production...Finally a waste of time and money.
Ford GT and Pescarolo Judd molds are done near headquarters of Simil'R.
Like it's easier and faster to work with a domestic company in the same language, it's not more expensive than work with China.

Simil'R is a small company (2 guys), but it's not a hobby, trust me ;-)
The boss (Maxime), is the financial (Sales, Bank, licences, etc...).
The second one (Nicolas), is the engineer and do everything to create the kit.
He draws 3D CAD models, instruction sheet, decals, photoetching, boxart, everything !
I hope they will do lot of models !

That is the same thing I hear from the Revell/Monogram people about dealing with the Chinese middlemen. Its slows projects down and drives up costs.

I hope they do well. Some older subjects would also be great, but I like both. Maybe they should talk to Revell(ED Sexton,Revell USA or Revell Germany) and see if they can market a joint project together.

Any ideas of who will stock it besides GPM? I had emailed Simil'R through their web site about any US distributor / dealers but did not get a reply.

Sorry, but I don't know what is "GPM".
The main problem on US market, is the incredibly expensive insurance policy.
The company is young and can't spend more than earn.

    Insurance policy??
I import from models from France all the time. I don't have any kind of insurance policy nor do the companies that send to me as far as I know.

Me too, I import from all over the world without problems.

Be clear, it's not a problem of insurance for shipping, but insurance of the product itself for all injuries possible to the final customer. (if you eat a part for example).
I'm not a law specialist in insurance of course, but I think products imported by yourself are at your own risk...Like many brands in fact.

So for the moment it's the main obstacle for "official market" in USA

I saw your name in your post, and I'm very pleased to speak/write with "Mr Island collectibles" :)

Could you send a private message with a good contact person at Simil'R. I will pass it along to my friends at Revell. I know Simil'R made an agreement with Studio 27 in Japan to market. Revell is alot bigger so that may help even more.

A little English firm that you might have heard of: Grand Prix Models.

Ah! Over 30 years ago I was in a meeting with the owner of a famous company making driver's fire-suits. He was quite proud of the fact that they had a US$1,000,000 liability policy. I had a great deal of difficulty convincing him that he needed a multiple of 10x that as an absolute minimum and 20x would not be too much.

I had already mentioned the 1/24th scale Alfa SZ Tronica awhile back. I did not know the company Strada 24 also made a Cisitalia 202MM in 1/24th scale. Does anyone have the kit or know of a source other than Ebay?? Also 1/24th Fujimi Pantera, BMW and Lamborghini photos along with the 1/20th Ferrari kit.

Found it on this great Targa Florio thread:

    http://www.forum-auto.com/sport-auto/histoire-du-sport-auto/sujet378358-46830.htm

Strada 24 also have this 1/24th Maserati A6GCS Pninifarina coupe in the works!!! We have to find or get a vendor to carry these kits!!

Here is the email: [email protected]

    They are in Argentina S.A.

I have traded several kits from Marcelo Figliozzi of Strada Models with our Air-Trax kits. While it takes some 2-4 weeks for the mailman to fly the parcels between Argentina and Finland, there have been no other problems. You can get Strada kits from me or straight from him. I have several Alfas and Cisitalias at the moment.
Naturally, ordering straight from Marcelo will save you some postage costs.

Sounds like they are very limited kits so that might be a good option to those who can't wait to long. Nice to see these new companies popping up and making great rare sportscars. I would also love to see Airtrax do that Alfa Autodelta van. I know the Alfa guys would all buy one.

Since we are on the subject of older 1950's cars I thought I would show some driver figures going back to even the 1930's I have found in 1/24th scale. The best one is the expensive unpainted CRAFT10(also make modern F1 figures) Fangio figure in 1/24th. It also comes in 1/43rd and 1/20th scale and really looks like the man. Others I have found are by Preiser and are of 1/24th 1930's-1950's drivers. You could use the Nuvolari figure with the Casitalia 202MM Mille Miglia car. Also included are pre war European drivers and are pre painted, but if you know how to paint figures you can repaint them better. Renaissance also make some nice 1950's driver figures in 1/24th and 1/43rd scales.

I have inclose 1 photo of the 1/24th 166/206 Dino #0834 hillclimb car I based on my old 166P model. I have cast 40 bodies and am trying to finish casting the wheels/chassis parts and might have it for sale at Ferrari Expo 2012 next March. The 166P is NOT available anymore and I don't have any for sale.

Incase you missed it and like 1/24th scale, here is the old link to the Qauttroruote 1/24th scale series of diecast models(very well done and alot of times better than the plastic kits!!)

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204071&page=7

FYI.........its time to buy those Euro zone kits you have been wanting. The Euro wich has been overvalued for years is finally coming down to a realistic level.
