    1) I used to own a 328 GTS for nearly 7 years. Sold it and had some other F´s after this.
    2) I am missing my 328, but when driving the 328 there is also something else I am missing: about 60-80 horses or so.
Yes, I KNOW it is not a performance car, and if it is performance only I am looking for, I should get another car. So, please save your time and don´t give me those wisdoms...
    I want a 208 / 328 because of the looks.
    3) How can power be improved in a 328 ? Any experience, and how much have you managed to squeeze out, without parts braking ?
    4) Cost / companies to turn to ?
    5) Has anyone done any mod to a 208 Turbo ? It delivers about 255 hp, and I thought there might be a chance to boost the power somewhat. How much, and what about limiting factors like fuel pump capacity, fuel injectors, gearbox, gaskets to withstand higher pressure etc ?
    6) Anyone done anything to the rest of the car, like changing shock absorbers, springs, anti sway / roll bars, stiffer bushings, different tyres etc etc ? Changes that can be done without too much changing the general look of the car. It shoudl still look pretty much as original.
    7) An an extreme alternative: has anyone had their 308 / 328 modified to a 288 look ?

Please try to keep this thread at a technical level, not getting involved in opinions...ok ?

    Gear car, Oops!

agreed, damn I did it again....

Disagree, it is a performance car, just underpowered

    3) How can power be improved in a 328 ? Any experience, and how much have you managed to squeeze out, without parts braking ?
You can double rear wheel hp without parts breaking. Clutch will fail @ around 400hp, though
Personally, I'd start with converting to EFI, from there you'd have total control over engine management and the sky would be the limit.

    4) Cost / companies to turn to ?
Any competent tuner would be able to make the conversion. Motec EFI are popular among Ferrari enthusiast, I use an Autronic and love it. The features and options are incredible. I'd stay away from older Haltec and AEM.
Units would be between $1500-$3000 depending. Figure doubled for install and harness. Plus ancillaries like fuel rail, injectors and regulator. With injectors, bigger is better. My Autronic was $2000.

Increased fuel pumping power is a must on turbo applications. Bigger pump, auxiliary pump, etc.
Combined with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
Don't know what kind of a waste gate is on a 208, but an adjustable unit is necessary.
With the adjustable press. reg. & waste gate, you can start tuning for power.
Bigger turbo will have dramatic effect, however injectors will become a limiting factor.
Don't know how interchangeable injectors are with a stock Bosch system.

I always wondered if the 2V 3.0l motor could be retrofitted with the 208T manifolds????

    6) Anyone done anything to the rest of the car, like changing shock absorbers, springs, anti sway / roll bars, stiffer bushings, different tyres etc etc ? Changes that can be done without too much changing the general look of the car. It shoudl still look pretty much as original.
Look up posts by Luckydynes, he's the man and posted recently on the topic.

    7) An an extreme alternative: has anyone had their 308 / 328 modified to a 288 look ?
Most look like conversions. Norwood done some nice GTO race cars in the past

    Hi there Anders!!!

A few things for you to think about.

308s seem to be a more common starting point for a 288 conversion - and there are Kits out there specifically for that. The difference is that the wheelbase will be off from what a 288 had, so externally it will likely look a little bit odd.

There are plenty of turbo and supercharger kits out there for the 3x8/2x8 cars. Often when they are listed on Ebay someone will make a post pointing it out.

Suspension-wise the QA-1 setup seems to be the best out there, but someone with more knowledge may be able to add a lot more to this thread than I can.

Going with wider/stickier tires is obviously an option for more grip. There are setups that would allow you to add wheels from just about any other Ferrari.

Other options would be to talk to Carobu or Nicks Forza and have them build you something. Nick is a sponsor here and can be found posting around the thread. He has a 308 that he has been building that is absolutely incredible!!!

So, there is power to be found in the cars, but do expect to pay for it either up front or through the reliability of your parts.

Interesting thread.....if there ever was a fantastic looking car that really needed another 50+ HP......the 328 would be it.

Ask Steven from Holland, he is lurking around here somewhere. He has turbocharged the 308, fitted upgraded shocks, bigger brakes etc. Or check out the pix at the dutch f-chat.

The 928 motorsports supercharger kit would be the way to go IMO. 80 more HP would be a mild 5-6 PSI of boost and all the oem parts would handle that increase with no issues.

I've been planning to buy that unit for 3 years but it seems that other "priorities" always arise that preclude spending the 6k USD on the kit. Maybe THIS year! :)

I know this is an old tread but I own both 308 and a 208 turbo. The 208 has been modified to a twin turbo set up with electromotive TEC2 EFI DIS and was a driver and tract car for years till I cranked up the boost one very cold morning 0 F and melted a couple valves.

The 208 turbo manifolds will bolt up BUT the intake and exhaust valves are much smaller and the port size for both intake and exhaust on the manifolds are smaller. The original motor had 7 to 1 compression and without the twin turbos out of the hole was like drag racing a lawn mower. I have since put a 308 2 valve block together using TWM throttle bodies and will use air to air intercooling with water injection as a back up on hot days. Here is a picture of the motor with some 308 stock headers which I am looking at modifying to the twin turbo set up. I will keep boost in the 1 bar area and not do what I did the last time. I will be using a different EFI DIS, AEM 30-1902 unit will replace the TEC2. I also changed out the transaxle to a stock 308 which has higher 1 and 2 gears compared to the turbo so the engine and turbos will load better on the bottom end. I also use a Mcleod twin disk clutch with lighten flywheel

I cranked a bone in my arm and tore some soft tissue a couple weeks ago so thats been a problem with an hard labor but the little things I have been able to do on the motor. I got all the throttle bodies mounted and made linkage for them thats pretty trick. I also bought a set of cast iron headers which will be much better than the SS ones I had before, they should be in this coming week along with the injectors. I am going to make fuel rails today and do a little welding if my arm holds out that long. I will start another thread with my build.
