I have a number of contact sheets and sketch prints actual b/w prints by Corrado Millanta and Peter Coltrin. They are stamped on the back plus have comments. Also prints and contact sheets from Rob Box and part of the manuscipt for the book he wrote with Richard Crump.. How does one get this valued?? Above all, what is a stamped print from Millana or Coltrin worth? I have searched the internet without result...

I own the negative collection of the late Rob Box. With regard to your contact sheets when you sell them remember that they do not come with copyright, thank you.

The Corrado Millanta archive and negatives and copyrights are owned by Maria Teresa and Teresa Millanta (widow and daughter) in Milan, Italy.
The Peter Coltrin archive and negatives and copyrights are owned by Peter G. Sachs (Klemantaski Collection) in Stamford, CT/USA.

I am not used to participate in chat that cover topic of my Archive. However, I felt compelled to do this after reading the unbelievable reply by Mr. Massini.

    To Mr. Biz5300,

Millanta Archive never released contact sheets and b/w prints for reasons other than book drafting, exhibitions, and special requests, and always - always! - required that the material be returned to the Archive after the book publication/event ever since my late father was alive. Thus, it is with surprise that I got to know by your post that you are in possess of b/w prints with comments (that cannot be reproductions, but have to be originals), and especially contact sheets from my Archive. Actually, you have to be aware that this material is covered by rights of property and copyright (as Mr. Massini well knows). Therefore, I would be quite glad to know how you entered in posses of such material - especially contact sheets - as we own the only originals handwritten by my father, and it is "strange" to know that some of these are around.

    To Mr. Massini,

I am glad to know that you value the stamped prints of my Archive 10 euros. Actually, they "ironically" have no value as these prints have never been for sale, and Mr. Massini should know well that we do not sell prints of the Millanta Archive photos. The majority of actual photos of my Archive that are on the market are of illegal provenance, as they were substracted from the Archive without permission, or were not returned to the Archive after use. If Mr. Massini values these actual prints with comments 10 euros, I will be more than glad to buy these from him (if he owns any) or any other person. It goes without saying that the Archive applies fees to its photos when these are used for publishing purposes alone.

    MT Millanta,
Welcome, and we are glad that you found this discussion.

I think everyone here supports you, in your efforts to preserve and defend the work of your father.

Maybe the thread author will answer your questions.

    Hi Ted
Just a question for my curiosity.
If Rob Box sells you negatives, but not all, how come the ones that someone else has are also your copyright. Surely you only own the copyright for the negs that you own? How does it work?

    Hi Nik
Generally speaking (ignoring your Millanta and Coltrin prints) the value of photographic prints, motor-sport type, is in their subject matter rather than in who took the photos.

Nathan I only own the copyright to the negatives that I own. If there are any more about the person that owns those has the copyright.

That clarifies it for me. I misunderstood your previous post.
