Who said anything about 'depreciating forever' ? I think members are smart enough to know that people who own cars want them to be worth more, tell me an F car owner who isn't on cloud 9 who does't want more for their car than it's worth, ever see cars that are 2 years old with 4-5 owners? I want the future buyers to be smart about their decisions and not be in the "spending money like I have it crowd, no matter how much they have." I'd bet there are few people on this board who have had more F cars over the years than me, I'm not talking about more expensive cars but quantity.
I never said that, don't put words in my mouth or I will have a problem with it. I need to make sure you are very clear about this. ok?
Chip, it's this sort of statement that many of us don't like and certainly doesn't reflect the marketplace. I can only really comment on the UK market but I think some of the same general rules will apply to other marketplaces. At the start of the year there were more than 30 Scuds for sale, this was mainly due to a large number of owners trading for new 458's and thus caused a glut, any market responds to supply and demand and this led to a buyers market - prices dropped and bargains were had. The bulk of upgrades have now happened, it is now unlikely that there will ever be the same glut again (165 Scuds sold new in the UK and quite a number have been exported), as of this point in time there are now 7 Scuds for sale, prices have firmed and they are much less of a bargain - I would still argue any Scud is a bargain, what a superb drivers car! Prices of 16M's have actually moved North slightly over the last 12 months, 53 sold new in the UK and latest registration figures show only 37 left. The UK has been suffering a big drain of these sorts of cars due to exchange rates and the demand for RHD cars in other areas of the World - our loss is someone else's gain.
All I know is that any 2008 Scuderia priced over 200k, even if it has the U.S. carbon package is most likely going to be sitting. F430GT had a really detailed pricing guide that he posted a little while back. It's unfortunate for owners that paid 300k or maybe even more than 300k when the car was in high demand that they have already depreciated 1/3 of their original retail values, but their loss is someone else's gain.
At the end new heavily optioned 09's were selling for 265K. IMO an 08 Scud with 8K miles is worth 165K wholesale today.
Great post I was going to say it could be me but 16m prices have barely dropped since the intro early 09, they sold for 310 usa and going for 250 to 285 today 3 years later (even with 458 spider out) hardly a drop. And 16m are selling according to the users on this forum buying them. Is that what people call prices dropping? I personally think scuds have leveled out in the market place still a great buy at 180k to 200k. My advice to all the dreamers sitting on the side lines praying to the higher ups for the price to keep dropping, if 10 to 20k is going to kill you maybe the Ferrari Scuderia is not a car for you to buy. Sure nobody wants to just lose money on any car but if you are really worried about pricing dropping after you buy Ferrari or any exotic for that matter is not the car for you, look at economy Honda's and Toyota's. In the meantime to all the lucky that own and enjoy the scud, enjoy and keep the rubber side down.
Ok, I won't put words in your mouth then: "Yea, it's a cess pool of people/dealers trying to capitalize as much as they can, don't get in a rush, market is dropping fast now..." Still got a problem?
Great post. I feel non owners should go buy these so called low priced scuds and prove us wrong and post the final sales invoice, better yet they should just go buy a car. 17 pages of replies to Scud prices dropping and I have yet to see any solid concrete proof to that? I still stand firm scud prices this year for legit cars is 180 to 200, last year it was 200 to 220, a 10 percent drop in price is fairly normal is it not? Or that is what qualifies as prices collapsing?
And, I'll add that I would take the opinion of Napolis that an 8K mileage 08 Scud would be 165 wholesale, not 155 retail now. Huge difference. And, a person who I think we all have a lot of respect for in his knowledge of the market (s). If someone wants to argue with Jim, be my guest. But it won't be me.
Bob you got it all wrong, it is the other way around if you buy a new Yugo they will throw in a Collapsing priced Scuderia for free.
As I posted earlier....bought an 08 Scud with 1740 miles for $195K....authorized dealer CPO car....it was the right car at the right price in my eyes...right where you think they would be at....so far no proof of collapse as others have said.....
I'll throw my hat in the ring...who bought the Midwest Motors black with red interior Scud? Best one I have seen, absolutely "spoke" to me, missed it by a day. I'd like that car or one similar, ie a standout interior. Having missed this one, I wont let $10k get in the way. As you guys are fond of saying, if you find the right car, get it while you can.
Thats too bad you missed it dustman! That car did look HOT. I agree, dont let a few grand get in the way of the "right" car for you. Be patient, another will pop up.
this one? http://www.exoticmotorsmidwest.com/2008-ferrari-f430-scuderia-black-on-red-em-160113/ how much was the asking price? looks nice with red interior.
This one looks like a good deal too... this one has been coming down like 5K a week to move. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROSSO-CORSA-NERO-SCUDERIA-LARGE-RACE-SEATS-RED-CALIPERS-LIKE-NEW-/110772160065?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19ca890641#ht_3204wt_1167 If I where in the market for a SCUD, I would try and snipe this!
Anyone call to see how many previous owners or if it has had any damage history? The VIN# didn't register with eBays autocheck.
I know about this car. FDE with ~8.5K mi. New front pads & rotors, new rear pads, new tires, new clutch, fresh service. I think it has a new windshield as well.
I made an offer on it a while back at 175K and he said thanks for the offer but he's retailing not wholesaling... but it's getting close to that bottom number I'm sure to move. I was calling around to so many dam dealers but I think this is clean with one possibly two owners if I remember correctly.
