I have read what has been published, but what does the Ferrari Nation know about the news from circuit of the americas? Looks like the media is placing blame on Tavo.

Sounds like the owners of COTA are trying to negotiate directly w/ Bernie, but no $25M from the State of Texas until after the race.

I heard that the track might be done, as in not going to open and they have already cancelled the 2013 F1 & Moto GP events.

Dont have any details as to why but that things are not going very well.

Since Tavo has the license for the race but no money to activate it-- he is out. COTA will have to renegotiate the contract with FOM but Bernie will probably try to extract an additional $10 million and that may not be possible. The State money will not be distributed until the race has occurred. So we shall see what the Bobbie and Bernie show has to offer in the next 7 days. If nothing has happened by then this deal is dead.

This is really a sad situation because the Austin F1 group had the Austin city council, the Austin business community, most of the people in Austin and Susan Combs in their camp and they may have blow the whole deal!

i read that Tavo has been in breach of the contract for months and it has now expired--so, there is no one that has a contract for this race....I know that there are some very good people invested in this endeavor, I sure hope that there is some wiggle room with the State on this deal.

Sad news for the covenience store owner near the track who had a stereotype-reinforcing Force India poster on the wall behind the register. :)

The project as of this moment is dead. Construction on the track has stopped. The teams and sponsors still want a US race but it's looking like it'll be moved across the river from Manhattan to New Jersey.

    Check this.

Should we hope they're hauling it away because of rain, and the event not being scrapped?

    EDIT-nevermind.

Welp. That was fun while it lasted.

Unfortunately it didn't seem like construction got far enough that finishing the track for amateur use is really feasible. I guess we'll see but I'm not hopeful.

    Oh well. :(

It’s Official. The Race is On!
Thanks for hanging in there with us! Working for, and being fans of, a start-up organization that is building a major new facility is not always easy. Because of the complexity of the project, things don't always happen as quickly as we would all prefer.

In the end, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™ in Austin is a reality because everyone involved wanted to get it done for the benefit of Formula 1™ in the United States. Mr. Ecclestone, the F1 teams and their sponsors, our investors and the State of Texas – this event benefits all of us.

We are through the first series of challenges and now we get to the exciting part – finishing the construction of the Circuit of The Americas™, selling tickets to the 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix and creating plans for an incredible fan experience.

Stay tuned! We will be making a lot of announcements over the next several weeks regarding our partnerships, ticket sales, event information and much more. We promise to keep you, our most committed fans, well informed as we move forward.

The 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is going to be a great event! We look forward to seeing you in Austin November 16-18, 2012.

    Sincerely,
    Geoff Moore
    Chief Marketing and Sales Officer
    Circuit of The Americas

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Construction is Back on Track
    We’re ready to roll!

Engineering and construction teams are enthusiastic to resume work immediately. Our construction managers are confident that the circuit will be ready for the 2012 race date.

We will have over 300 workers back on site by the end of next week. Yesterday, equipment started making its way back to the construction site. We expect to have it all back on site by next week moving full speed ahead!
