http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96306 He is not happy! A seat soon to be available id say.
Storm -> Teacup Boullier has accepted his apology. [ http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96335 ] As you said, way too many Russian rubles for it not to be. He did make some "surprising" comments though - "My contract says I'm not allowed to criticize the team, but I'm going to anyway!" Never smart to criticize your employer . Cheers, Ian
His comments are spot on imho. They fell behind quickly after a decent start, the Force seems to have usurped grid positions 9 and 10....
+1. But, he shouldn't be criticizing to the TV cameras. Doesn't exactly endear you to the guys who work their balls off all year to try & help you. Having said that, they accept that they got it wrong; At least they tried something a little different..... Had it worked the way the tunnel data initially suggested they'd have been in the catbird seat as copying it would have been *hard*. Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96345
+1 Exactly! And to add to the issue against Petrov, he hasn't been driving that brilliantly in the second half of the season, even taking into account the cars lack of performance. But the thing is, it's taken them a whole season to discover what most the other teams had worked out in simulations and testing! Quite a few of them had investigated this style of exhaust previously and had ruled it out as the complexity of getting it to work correctly was just not worth the gains and in some cases it actually produced more issues than it solved (in fact most teams were curious to find out if Renault had found something with the concept that they hadn't - as it turns out, they hadn't).
I'm not so sure...... I certainly don't know, but don't believe anyone else even looked at doing something so "radical". It certainly created some big noise when it first appeared and even seemed like it may be really good. Then it went backwards and they couldn't do anything with it. But, at least they *tried* something different. Cheers, Ian
It was mentioned on the BBC's F1 coverage several times during the season that other teams have investigated the idea in the past and ruled it out due to the complications it creates for the aerodynamics and the balance of the car (this may have been prior to the use of the hot blowing exhaust engine maps tho).
