Just now I realise that I have actually seen Emilio blasting by in that Countach!!! We were just on our way back to the airport to fly back to Holland, when a Gallardo Spyder, a white Countach and a yellow Murciélago came in in the oposite direction.
I received some pictures later from German friends who were at the Museum in Dosso.
Small world! Next time we really have to meet Emilio!
    Ciao!
    Marcello

PS: I do not understand why my pictures are not sharp, the originals are perfect...
only resized to 800 pixs wide. Any suggestions to improfe this?

Joe suggested I post this here too ( as well as Factory forum ).
I don't know much about R Leimer, but I doubt he is particularly tall, so low LP400 is quite striking, IMHO

Same here, must be the application F-Chat uses that dilutes the resolution to some degree.

Hello! This is my first post...I joined just to read this thread..Long time fan of the Countach & I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the great info & wonderful pictures! I am currently building a highly detailed 1/12 scale model LP400, of which this thread has helped me very much. I have a couple questions tho which I hope you can answer. I am wondering about a couple items on the engine bay. One is the long horizontally mounted cylinder with I believe to be oil lines attached. What is it, and where do these lines run to? One line to the engine & the other?? The other item I'm just curious about, and its the other similar looking piece vertically mounted on the engine right side, with (vacuum?) lines attached. Sometimes one line, sometimes two.
    Thanks!!

Here's a link to some pics of said model so far

Emilio's car sits like a low body. If it's one of the last LP400S cars built, wouldn't it make it an S3? A friend of mine had his S3 lowered, has that been done on his car? Also, it has a US DOT type rear bumper. Was the car imported from the US to Italy?

Geno: Emilio's car does not sit like a lowbody, and that's because, it isn't one. It has not been lowered. You are correct, it is a S3, one of the last 4 litre cars built. What you are looking at is the narrow front track of the LP400S cars and perhaps this gives you the optical illusion that the front has been lowered.

No problem on the misunderstanding as it difficult to explain in words.
In person and in front of the car it is easy to pointing out.

As far as correcting the issue it is relatively easy (now if feel lazy as mine are still incorrect). All you have to do is elevate the headlights, then undo the linkage to the headlight assembly. This will give you the extra clearance needed to disconnect the two springs holding the turn signal light assembly in place. Then it is just a mater of flipping the assembly if they are upside down. Mine are not only upside down they are reversed so I will have to swap the left and the right assembly and reinstall them.

Maybe I'll do that over the holiday weekend instead of eating too much.

    Vic

    Yes that was the car.

Hopefully it received some much needed attention along with the new white interior and wheels. The first thing that would come to mind would be replacing the oil line that were weeping so bad that the lower rocker was saturated with oil.

At the time it was best to pass on the car and look for a better example.

If I owned such a Countach I would probably correct it as well.
One can argue about originality, because the car was original delivered that way,
but it is not the original design, and besides that, it does look strange, cross-eyed ;-)
So good luck with the operation, and we will see some before and after pictures righ Vic?

    Ciao!
    Marcello
