I wanted my Verde as much as the QV. The experience to date couldn't be more different, the 308 is a Corolla compared to the Milano being a Biturbo and SM combined. The car gave me grief every single day. But the 924S was worse.

Alot of people may not realize that the 2.3 turbo in that car is solid as a rock and I have seen articles in mag's of one producing over 400ftlb's and alomost 400rwhp from simple bolt-on's.

    Old school is still cool!!

I was just thinking the same thing. What a bummer on the 2.3...

i think the bad rap came from that same engine being in the pinto/bobcat cars....mine was a carb'd 2.3 turbo (small T3) with the getrag 5 spd.....i'd rev the liv'n' **** outta it and dump the clutch which launched it pretty well....surprised a lot of small block guys :D ....later i upraded the axle ratio (8.8 w/ 3.7 gears), got a set of larger (wider) trx mags from the T-birds, converted it to a larger holley 2-bbl carb, a header (used track car piece) made a larger diameter (3.5") single exhaust with dump at rear axle, and a larger T3 turbo off of a T-bird, modified the wastegate can (for more boost)....lowered it and did some suspension upgrades...

...instead of that car, i almost bought a silver '79 pace car edition, but it was fairly rusty....i think mine was the better choice :)

Wow that brings back memories. I had an 82 mustang gt, had it for a week then got t-boned by a cadillac fleetwood. Then I picked up a 82 capri with the 5.0 liter package drove that for four years. Those were fun cars. I never got to drive a 2.3 turbo version. I remember the Svo that had the 2.3 and put out about 175 horse if I remember correctly.

pretty cool :) they use to say the fox-stangs were the 55 chev of thier time LOL lots still around doing the racing scene

i always desired an svo, they were well designed package, good handling car, and responded well to mods....a local black svo was over 400hp, killer machine!

there was a dohc svo prototype once too, 275hp+ IIRC :D

I wonder if that was a Cosworth designed head? The US market lost out bigtime IMHO when we did not get the 2.0 Cosworth Turbo motor, why do we continue to get screwed??

i don't know if it was? i do know there are some guys now putting a volvo dohc head on the 2.3 block, and turbo charged, with impressive results :D

there are such a variety of cossy bits-of-kit too.....a local fellow i know imported a whole front end (engine/harness/etc)c complete of a cossy sierra (like merkur xr4ti), only to discover it was not the YB series (good past 500+hp) but a more common sierra cossy variation (engine good to 275-300hp) :(

I would still love to have a Cossy though as it would be a great swap for my Miata.

great engine, no doubt, i agree....they do have cam issues though too

i'm not one of the loud mouth srt fan-boys LOL , but i do know the strength of the dodge 2.4 dohc turbo engine......that would make a hell of a strong engine OEM for such a project IMO
my own srt4, with a modded stage 3, over 400hp at the wheels...and relatively cheap to aquire too

Cock strong engine it is but to bad it is not a rwd chassis, no disrespect intended. Man I wish I had pics of my '76 Datsun, flash from the past would be awesome.

The fox bodies really were like the 55 chevys back in the day, they ruled the streets until the Buick GN came out.

1995 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr-4. I still have it with only 10,000 miles on it. I bought a 85 iroc comaro a year later to use as a toy.

I have always liked those cars and have seen a few 10sec/600+4whp versions. Every time I see one I always look for the VR4 badge.
