BTW Frank Sinatra gave his daughter Nancy Sinatra a brand new Ferrari 330 America in 1964. I know this because I own the car now!

He originally bought it for himself but found he didn't need it as one of his Vegas 'friends' found him an appropriate replacement...

In thge late 60's I was employed at Harrah's Automobile Collection in Reno. One of my duties was to give guided tours to celebreties. I met a number of car guys and ladies over that time.

Frank Sinatra came to the collection with Dean Martin and I guided them through the several buildings filled with cars on display. After guiding a number of celebs you got a quick feel for their serious interest or lack of.

I was amazed at the depth of knowledge and interest both men showed. It seems that Frank was rather versed in American Automotive history. He talked with Dean about the various exploits of Pierce, Cadillac, and other high end manufacturers.

Dean and Frank asked serious questions about a number of different vehicles on display, and that impressed me. I met a few entertainers appearing at Harrar's that were faking interest to gain favor from Mr Harrah, and it was painfully obvious.

Most of the entertainers that came through the collection had their hanger-on-ers and gofers. One such person that shall remain anonomus would not talk to me directly. He asked his gofer a question which was repeated to myself, then I answered the gofer and he spoke to the "star".

Bill Cosby had a Frasier Nash on display and had a deep seated interest in vintage cars, as did his partner in crime Robert Culp. Wayne Newton, Steve Mcqueen were also collectors with cars on display at Harrah's. My all time favorite female celebrity was Julliet Prowse. Not only was she interested in cars, but she was soo drop dead gorgious you could not keep your eyes off her.

Mr Sinatra and Mr Martin, dove to the collection together, no staff, no helpers, just 2 guys out for the aftenoon, to see the worlds largest collection of antique cars. It was a pleasant afternoon for me and I hope for them as well.

Also a sharp Ghia L6.4, which is super cool in a mid century way ...

I've never seen an inventory of Dean's cars (or Frank's) but they seemed to have quite an assortment.

I was offered a Merc 560SL a few years back that was reportedly a Dean Martin car, but apparently he had a fleet of cars that he bought for his publicists, agents, etc., so hard to tell which were really his.

Interesting. This is the first that I've ever heard of this Sinatra quote. I'll have to remember it.
