Hi, I have been having this trouble on and off. The left side of the engine does not have any ignition spark. I changed the ignition module and the coil pack already and switched the ECU to make it was not that. Any ideas. Lino
Check the ground harness/wires that are located along the intake manifold. Secondly check the MAF. Then confirm the fuel regulator is working. Keep at it. Its a simple system.
Hi, and thanks. I have limited knowledge how would I go about checking the MAF and fuel regulator. If it would be the cranksensor has anyone repalced on a Mondial T? Lino
After checking the grounds, I'm with porphy, my guess is bad Cat Temp Ecu. Try disconnecting the cat temp ecu for the bank that isn't firing. The Mondial T is pretty much the same as the '89 348 with a few things in different locations. As for changing the crank sensor, EASY. Same deal as on a 348. So you can run a search of the archives for the d.i.y. threads. One more thing. Do both of your c.e.l.'s come on? If so, you may wanna pull the codes to see if you are getting the cat ecu code, which for the 348 is 4121.
These are all great ideas. To check the MAF you could check ohms, but to make it easier you simply run the car & unplug the connector @ the MAF and see if you have a change. Report back with findings. The fuel reg you just need to pull off the vacuum hose and tell us if it spills fuel out. If its dry (and it should be) you should be okay. I also agree with the ECU fuses (located back by the ECUs) and perhaps the Cat Temp ECU (however mine never had a similar failure). Lastly remember that each side works as its own entity. It would be pretty simple to just crack a fuel line open and see if you have fuel flow on each side. Jot down results on any of the above and post back.
Hello, I have fuel and i will be checking fuses. I dont get any slow down lights. A for the grounds what is it I am looking for. I will be checking wires today. Then I will see for the crank sensor. BTW does anyone know of a cross ref. number for the cranck sensor. Do we have a match? Thanks for your help guys. Lino
Yup. Kia cranks sensor. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228857 Running a pair in my 348 as are a few other guys.
Hey Thanks, going to order two as i speak. i am just wondering if i will be able to do this with TWO floor jacks????? What do u think?
That's what I used, and a couple of jack stands once I had it in the air. 15-30 minute job once you are under the car.
The Kia ones are working great. The replacement is exactly as Ernie says. Easy peasy, even I got it done with all thumbs and frustrated mechanic mentality! Good luck.
Hi, I jacked up the car and changed the higher mounted crack sensor for the left side, is this correct? Anyway I started the car and it was the same problem, the right side is not firing? Need help. Thanks, Lino
The crank sensor on the side of the pulley is for the 1/4 bank (right side of the engine looking in from the back of the engine bay), and the crank sensor on the bottom of the pulley is for the 5/8 bank (left side looking in front the back). Try swapping it with the bottom cs, and see what that does. If that doesn't work then I would try completely disconnecting the cat ecu from the harness.
Ok so I guess I changed the wrong one. i changed the one on the seide of cranck pulley. I have the left bank (looking from the back in) not working so i had to change the bottom one correct. so back up we go. I noticed that the 7.5 amp fuse next to the left computer was blown. I replaced it 3 times and everytime i started it blew?? i included a picture, I am pointing at it with the tester. Could this be the smoking gun?
Hi Guys, Anyone have an idea what that fuse is for? I am looking in the manuals ans I cant find it. Lino

i will look around early tomorrow morning to see where that wire leads. Thanks guys. Keep you posted.
