I'm seriously looking for a qualified shop to add twin turbos to my 1993 348. I live in Houston. I've talked with Norwood Performance in Dallas in detail, but still would like to have it done here, if possible. Is there anyone in Houston truly qualified to do this type of work? Any first hand experience with highly modified ferrari work?

    I read it.

    Norwood is your best option...

UPDATE: I did a search and found that Lawell Motorsports is mentioned in the Houston area.

OK - you asked for a reply. I hope you just want to spend money becasue that is what you'll be doing. For a bespoke turbo install you are probably looking at a minimum of $30K and that is for a bolt-on and I also think there is an EXCELLENT chance it won't run right due to signficant hurdles in engine management and a lower end install will not reduce your compression ratio. When you are done you'll have a car probably less valuable than stock - no one wants a 348 hand grenade and that will be the perception of any buyer. You want the full meal deal that handles engine internals, transaxle, half shafts and other components start thinking $100K. IMO stupd money to throw at a 348.

Finally, when something does go wrong you'll have precious few options for troubleshooting and repair, esp for any engine-related issues.

At the end of the day I'll almost guarantee a stock Corvette Z06 will outperform the car you have built.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for hotrodding cars, but go with a proven platform unless you (1) want to spend a fortune; (2) have to deal with development gremlins and do without your car off and on for probably a year or more; and (3) forget about resale.

You want a stupid fast car - get a Z06 and supercharge or turbo it - there are far more developed and proven options out there and you wont be butchering a Ferrari.

The lack of responses tells me that there are plenty of curious people but not much knowledge out there. That should tell you something.

    I speak from experience.

It reminds me of a guy in Art Cars that would ALWAYS tease me and say:

"Just put a Chevy 350 in there, and be done with it Alan..." :D

He put a gun in his mouth in front of his wife and blew his brains all over the wall.
