Your car should have the sticker with it.

If you just need a Base price which none of them sold near with options that 277k would be realitively close.

Most Scuds had final msrp from 295-321k

Unfortunately the sticker is gone. I'll go with $277,456. With my options, my car's MSRP is just over $305K. Close enough for the insurance guys.

    Thanks!

That's cause potential owners / future owners like the word "collapsing" vs. "buyer's guide."

because the only noise that was actually happening in this thread was tire kickers.

they all took the hint ;)

Proves no buyers looking for these on Fchat anyway.

Why do you say no buyers? There have recently been quite a few new Scud owners?

    Agreed.

This post became a back and forth between buyers who were trying to talk values down and actual owners/ buyers who were truly in the market.

A lot less buyers. Hence the reason A Lot less Scuds are for sale. Owners have realized they don't want to sell their cars for less than they feel they are worth and most Scud owners decided they wouldn't buy a 458 because the car isn't worth the extra 100k plus to get into.
The very reason so many 458's are owned by "brand new" Ferrari customers. I would bet that no "NEW" Scuds were sold to "new" Ferrari customers.
Yep and only cash to a seller actually determines the values of these cars. Posts on Fchat won't :)

Oh come on, posts on FCHAT are like Scuderia airline miles. Look how many posts you have, and you actually own a Scuderia. So if I get my posts up, I will earn enough Scuderia miles to have one too! :)

It's quite obvious those here on Fchat with small post counts are out working, earning and buying more Ferraris. :p

Those with HUGE post counts obviously have way too much time on their hands, sitting around posting here when they could be out earning more money to buy more Ferraris. :p

Interestingly (at least to me) there are 4 16Ms for sale in Scottsdale right now (red, titanium, burgundy, black) and I think there are ~30 for sale in the US right now in total...that is interesting when you put in context of, what 200 of these in the US? Maybe less, 150? I mean there were 499 built worldwide right!?!

So...if the US total number is 150, then 30 for sale right now would be fully 20%! WTF? Prices range from $260 to $300k. Me thinks these are in for a tumble just given the supply/demand imbalance and the imminent US launch of 458 Spider (and folks who got original 16M certainly will be candidates for early 458 spiders). [For context there are currently ~15 CSs for sale out of ~370 brought to the US (4%) and prices seem to have firmed up. But, about 18-24 months ago there were over 30+ CSs for sale and prices promptly fell from near $200k to under $150k...]

Thoughts and observations please? [actual first hand knowledge appreciated, guesses and pure speculation not so much]

Note to fortunate existing 16M owners - Please understand. This post is about pricing. I'm sure everyone who has a 16M is thrilled with what must be a great car. Drive it. Enjoy it. Don't worry about what we talk about here and don't get offended. Please. Thanks. If that doesn't work, let me just say in advance I'm a wannabe tire-kicking, poor, meanie who wants you to lose money and will never buy a 16M. There, I said it ;-)

My only thinking is that they shift the cars around from dealer to dealer to try to sell them. There's no way they are going to sell a spider up North so they ship them south for a chance.

I'm just guessing but you have to admit, it would make sense.

Ferrari made a lot more than 499 of the 16m's

CS two years ago were above 40 cars for sale.
I believe the average price asking was only about 5k less than now.

16m will drop when the spider arrives. It has to. Why would anyone pay up they won't drop a ton more than 10-15% is my guess. The cars are fantastic. Look good and are the last REAL soft top Ferrari made.

Yes, they do, but, another factor is, in the winter people don't have "spring fever" so the buyers / demand also drops, when you see dealers do that it's because they have no choice but to run for the boarder and bail. It's not a 5 sate fair weather economy, just a high roller -"I got money like I'm spending it" attitude that gives the market false sense of economics.

I saw a 2006 430 F1 spider sell the other day for $114k, not a bad price, but, for an additional $49k you could have a 700+hp (at the rear wheels, 800 at the crank) UGR kit on it and still be $100k cheaper and it will smoke an ENZO/F40/16M, I never understood the 16M price for a buyer, as a dealer I did, I don't know of one dealer that netted (not gross) less than $96k on a 16M sale, some way more.

Do you have some proper information about the number of 16M's produced as this would be most useful for owners or are you repeating what has been written many times before?

Whilst as a 16M owner I clearly would like prices to hold it is a fact that prices will drop - how quickly and how much - well who knows.

I have done a great deal of research into the number of 16M's built and although it is often quoted that Ferrari made more that 499 I have yet to find proof that this is the case. Ferrari continue to say 499, dealers continue to say 499, UK registrations (government figures) which typically for any given Ferrari run at approx. 10% of world production also support a figure of or near to 499 (53 registered cars originally which has now dropped to 37 with exports). As a reference point, 118 CS's in the UK out of 1288 (9%).

The number of used cars for sale does move in cycles, 12 months ago there were 35+ Scuds for sale in the UK out of a total of 165 registered cars, now there are 10 (22% of cars were for sale last year and now there are 6%). This was a glut caused by owners moving to 458's. When I was looking at getting a CS there were at most 3 cars available, now there are 11 (3% were for sale and now it is 9%)! Looking at forums I assume this is because a number have moved to Scuds! Currently there are 4 16M's for sale (7% of cars for sale), with the approach the 458 spider I assume this will increase as owners move them on before any assumed price drop occurs? Interestingly, 16M prices in the UK haven't moved in 12 months, they are still 'exactly' where they were 12 months ago when I purchased mine, ranging from £165-£185 depending on specification and mileage. 458's are now starting to nudge below this upper figure! (40+ 458's for sale).
It is very difficult to use just the number of cars for sale at any given time and draw a conclusion about the number of cars produced when these numbers swing so much with times of the year/market conditions and upgrades due to new car launches. 30 16M's for sale in the US out of probably 175-200 although high (17-20%), isn't out of sync with the likely life cycle of owners starting to think about moving them on before the arrival of the 458 Spider.

One car where taking a simplistic view of figures does suggest a higher production number is with the GTO, I simply use the following figures as an illustration of where limited details and supposition will get us and I make no claim that this represents real numbers produced, but the local F car dealer has sold 11! As a comparison they sold 4 16M's and 14 Scud's. This is a dealer outside of the London hotspot of mega money so you wouldn't expect such a blip in supply figures. There are 12 official dealers in the UK, so quick maths puts the number of UK GTO's at 132! Using UK as 10% of World supply this gives us 1320 GTO's produced. Clearly rubbish but never the less interesting where simply taking figures at face value gets us.

Chip, what was the mileage on the 06 spider? Also was this an auction, private sale or dealer sale? Thanks for the info that you offer, I think it gives a good perspective on the car business.
