    This Saturday, I broke the ignition key of my 400 while starting the car. Luckily, it sheared at the fob end so the key can still be turned with the help of a pair of pilers. However obviously I need to get a replacement asap, preferably one that looks original. I was going to try the usual places (eurospares etc) but was just wondering if anyone had experience of this issue and whether any special process is needed (eg whether keys are supplied cut by Ferrari?)

    Any advice appreciated - many thanks!

    i used eurospare and if i remember correctly you just have to send a picture of the key..and the replacements work great.

    Here are several common foreign car blanks: ilco(RE61/x12)..TaylorX12(Pugeot/Renault).
    Taylor NE7. These blanks are American made, and I have found them to be readily available in most well stocked professional lock shops@<>$5USD.
    Also common to Volvo . I hope that this is of some value.Jacques

    Thanks all for your great suggestions - will try eurospares first but if no luck will try the alternatives. Thank you!

    My local lock smith was able to order them and they look like the originals. These are the German locks, Neiman I believe is the key maker name. Be sure this is the key you need. When he ordered them I had to get six of them so I have mine and spares and I can sell one or two of my blanks to you. Send PM and we can work out a price with shipping to UK.
    Ken
    p.s. confirm on this thread that you sent PM I never seem to get notifications about them.

    Ken;
    I remember when I was searching/found a couple of Neiman blanks several yrs. ago. I contacted these guys in regards to cutting the keys 'to code' (as opposed to copying my 'used' key), & iirc, they told me of the 5 versions, that the 1st of the 4 digits on the key was the blank #. Fortunately, the ones for sale were the same blank version (#0)...the Neiman blanks came from a 400i owner in Thailand, shipped here, then back over to the other side of the globe to be cut. Very fast turn-around.
