Seems you have to be leading at least the last lap to win a race. Unless someone in front got disqualified, which I do not believe happened in Italy 1971.

I remember him well in F5000 - They came to Brands quite a lot back when I lived down the street. Huh? To win the race you must be first past the checkered flag, and of story. [Many races have been won on the last turn......
