    Went to a "Neiman Marcus Private Shopping Party" tonight and got to see my first Ferrari FF in person. I got an invitation through our local dealer FOW (thanks FOW!).

    The car is amazing in real life. And the Neiman Marcus edition of it is pretty special.

    The car has a wider, sleeker stance than I was expecting.

    And the cuoio-colored leather in this special edition was the softest leather I've felt.
    The seats have a dark gray kind of piping on the edge but it lays flat on the leather so it is more like a seam rather than piping.

    The side windows were made of double-pane glass. The two panes of glass are somehow fused together into a single sheet.
    Below is a close-in picture of the edge of the double-pane glass. Most unusual.
    I bet it makes the car much quieter on the inside while cruising down the road.

    The backseats in this particular car come with DVD players mounted in the back of the front headrests.
    That'll keep the kids busy on long trips.

    Also, check out the new kind of spoiler on the rear lower venturi (in the second pic).
    I've never seen a spoiler flap down low like that.
    Obviously it directs the air flow coming back from under the car up into the low pressure area in the car's slipstream.
    Wonder if we'll start seeing this upside-down kind of spoiler on future Ferrari models.

    The store had the private shopping party catered with non-alcoholic fancy drinks and various dessert sweets being brought around on trays.
    There was a mariachi band upstairs and down by the car we had a 5-person singing group doing Christmas songs. Great singers.

    It was a very nice event to go to.
    Only down side was my wife found some clothes she wanted to buy.
    Yikes, and I almost escaped without breaking out the credit card. :)

    I saw an FF for the first time two weeks ago in NYC with this exact exterior/interior combination and I loved it. Seeing the FF in person really changed my perspective on it.

    re: laminated glass on the FF

    "back in the day" a lot of auto glass was laminated as a part of controling the breaking glass as part of safety to occupants... the lamination went away with the development of new safety glass that "crumbles" rather than breaking into long shards. There could be several reasons for current lamintion, whether for safety, technical / manufacturing or security.

    I've seen one at F of Ft Laud. I'm neutral on it. I don't hate it but don't like it either.

    Remember when Mercedes did that double-pane glass on the S-class back in the late 80's/early 90's ?

    I hope the technology has improved.

    Lime Rock had one on dsplay during the Ferrari Challenge in dark red - it looked great.

    Last night at Ferrari Beverly Hills. Senna1194 in the center and me on in the arms of the brunette.

    First time I've seen it also. I like it much more in person than in photos. It's not a big as it looks. The interior if fantastic. For a sports sedan, it has real presence. I liked it very much (or maybe the girls had a bit of an influence on me?) :)

    The 1st Ferrari I saw was a red 308 in an upscale local clothing store in a strip mall. They had it roped off in the center of the store. Even then I thought how cool.

    I had a chance to see one a couple weeks ago at a show in Houston. It was brought by FOH and I thought it looked way better in real life as well. Its more proportional and smaller overall somehow vs how I was imagining form pics. I actually liked it a lot. Id like mine in TdF/cuoio please.

    Such a poor excuse. Not getting a serial number (or serial numbers) at an event/unveiling should be a bannable offense!
