If you are a purist get out of this thread, even an 'SV'd' Muira is a kit in a certain way, and do not upgrade, cooling fans, radial tires or R134 AC compressor


Some people have tons of talent, or time and do wild things, see the custom Masser Roadster in another thread, my hat is off to this guy...amazing, it will out handle REAL cars.

Others dream of an Fcar or Lambo and that's all they can afford, their err is when they try to pass it off as the real thing. Sure you can buy a less expensive 328 car but then OE components get expensive and service can be complex and if you are not plugged in to a 'fraternity' like we have here you can get waay under reaally fast.

So yeah some of these 'kit' look funny, but hey these cars get driven, create some pleasure and enjoyment and while these owners are spending on cars and the auto parts store, there not on drugs or doing crazy other illegal activities.

Talent and time to do wild things is not objectionable - quite the opposite.

High tech mods, individual style, creativity and hot rodding are all fine.

But the Mercedes-Benz "Gazelle" replicas come with a different star on the hood, as they should. They're okay cars in their own right and a nice tribute to a fine car that few can have. That's all good.

A Fiero is not a Ferrari, however - no matter how beautifully modified, no matter how fast it can go - and should not be badged as one.

And what's with the "Purists should get off this board" bull****? This is FERRARIchat, not KITCARchat, in case you haven't noticed, and the title of this thread is CRAPPY Replicas Thread.

Those of you who think that all kit cars are just the pinnacle of automotive achievement can start a "Fabulous-Fieros-Made-to-Sort-Of-Resemble-Exotics" thread. Hopefully on a different chat board.

Okay when you find me an Enzo owner who's willing to take his car out to an Autocross event ill see if I can put him in touch and we'll see what happens. Till then I won't say anything else other than id wanna see that happen.

I won't say Superior to the original, id say if someone builds it right it can be just as good.. Regardless of how great a kit is it will never be better than the original. You can't replicate the engineering thats found in the real cars. I wish i could get a GM or Ford engine to sound like a Ferrari or Lamborghini V12. Even trying to get a BMW or jag V12 to sound exotic is near impossible.

You see anyone who knows me will know I appreciate both originals and kits and that evidence can be seen through my youtube channel, you'll see videos of both that I have filmed from friends project Lambo replica's to friends real Lamborghini Diablo's. Why I'm I apart of this forum, I'm here to share the passion of Ferrari and exotics in general kits or not with everyone else including you. I can't get that while being on LS1tech(I own an Fbody) or anywere else. I like exotic cars all together. I can't exclude the fact that kits can be just exotic looking.

What I don't understand is why folks dislike them so much. Even well built ones.

 

I think that the Kit Murci in NJ was just on Ebay for sale, i bet the front spoiler air Dam will not last that long , its about 2 inches from the ground, how ever buys it will break off the whole front 1 st time out . the problem i see is if the car looks like a supercar it should preform like a supercar. i don`t have a problem with kit cars, but i don`t like kit cars that pretend to something they are not .

Well, that's all I need to know! Wish there was a Buy It Now option, instead I must battle it out with all the other bidders.

 

That doesn't look to bad until you see inside or pop the hood

 

The front spoiler all depends on the airshocks he puts on the car. if the next owner doesn't put adjustable suspension yeah it will be smashed in. Or if he run's it hard on a road full of pot holes

Then again my buddies REAL Diablo has the same problem and he's looking at buying another bumper soon. The good thing with kits is anything can be corrected, I donno if they sell airbag kits for real lambos. I have heard of people using skateboard wheels in order to go over bumps.

That looks very identical to a real Testarossa, and I'm sure that it's faster and corners better.

 

Would be hard to tell from the real one if it had the wheel caps on

It looks accurate but its still rocking the bone stock Fiero 2.8. Put a V12 or a 3800 SC and this thing could run with an original.

 

Attention to detail is what sets it apart - have a look at the gaps. Yikes.

 

Accurate or not, that one looks good. Apart from the lamborghini cover on top of the V6. Does it have a proper new rear subframe or is it just a relatively simple stretch?
