Is 12590 yours? Funny thing is I encountered it in the mid-80s and always remembered it because of the rare Rosso/rosso combination. In fact I know of just one other Countach LP500S thus liveried, a car that resides near me in Southern California. In the old Portman Lamborghini showroom on George Street in London, amongst others there was a framed picture of 12590. Not that any of this helps you but I thought you might find it interesting. If you could get hold of ex-Portman sales director Mike Perry (last I heard he was working with Pagani) you would learn all about its early life because I'm sure he remembers it.

I'm clueless Joe, what do "EE" plates signify? Here is an '81 I shot a photo of at the Seattle International Auto Show back when I was a punk kid that had "EE" plates.

From what I understand, this Countach was owned by the same Arab prince here in the Seattle area back in the day that also owned the one and only Aston Martin "Bulldog". Also at the same show.

    Mike:

EE plates are Italian Touring plates and they are generally on a Countach if it was collected at Santa Agata by the owner (or a representative) and driven away.

They are good to keep with the car as historical pieces.

FWIW EE stands for: 'Escursionisti Esteri'.

you may have just opened a can of worm if i understood your post the right way...

If ELA is for FI euros then this is contradicted by Bobileff who was selling in 2006 ELA12784, a black tan injected with full USA gears and a little silly scoop to cover the wiper.
May be Gary could help us sort this out? Was that car really ELA as all the serial in that range are FLAs? or was this a moded Injected?

Also Roy sold ELA12775 a Usa fullgeared car car around the same time , Red -Black. It would help to know if that car was injected or not.

here is a pict of ELA12784

Ive received some incomplete documentation about the period manufacture of 1987 & 1988 build cars that came down the assembly line with side skirts on.

Anyone care to chime in with known dates?

I am NOT an expert as to what was or was not correct as it left the "Factory"..

But the way I look at it, WHO cares..NO ONE in 1986, 87 OR 88 bought a car and thought to them selfs's...WOW I wonder what this car will be worth in 2011..???

They did, as we other's do today, made it the WAY they wanted it when they got it, enjoyed and let it go when thery were done with it..in their 'time of life", as it changes constanly as we age.

My point is, WHO cares..buy it cause YOU like it and want it, to look at, to drive it, to sleep in it, to hang it on wall..IT'S your money and spend it as it makes YOU happy....not for some FORUME "cowboy keyboard" jockey..it is your life...live it the way you want..

I CAN Guarntee you, 30 years from now, when you are DEAD and GONE, NO ONE will give a CRAP what you did or did not do to your toy's...and even if they did SO WHAT..your gone and done with it/// live YOUR life today, not for someone else that you DONT even KNOW 30 years down the line!

The white one is #1121430, the wine red I suppose it's Max Bobnars LP400S Biturbo #1121160

ELA = 1984, FLA= 1985, since the first QV is FLA12796 there are quite sure 1985 model year LP500s with injection...

No, but I am happy for every day I wake and can walk and talk. I also no I am not here forever and at 54 I am sure past the 50% mark of the rest of my life. I also worked way to hard the first 50% not to enjoy what I have. I for one just cant put so much worry into a "Car" or any other man made object that will more then likely be here way longer then me, so I will USE it for my benefit and not others.

I was born naked and broke, I have every intention of leaving that way as well......the time in-between will be lived and enjoyed to the top as much as I can

It is VERY possible that the first factory cars or a handful were given ELA serial numbers, but Joe Nastasi, Lamborghini North America circa 1980s, confirmed that factory USA cars were designated FLA serial numbers.
