I am looking for a scud and it would punch all of my buttons. My wife would like to now if this is a car we could go for a 3 or 4 hour drive in and would she want to do it again next week?

I would say yes, my wife likes everything luxury usually but is happy on longer journeys in the 16M - you will find it surprisingly civilised when you want it to be - and a real hooligan other times! Some find the seats a little uncomfortable on long drives but I have to say that isn't my experience.

LOL. Depends on your wife. Mine only lasted once around the block.

My wife is OK, but she's very tolerant of firm rides, stiff suspensions, etc, having been in my cars for many years now. There have been a few owners who reported that their wives wouldn't get back in the car after the first experience. I find the seats firm enough to make me restless after more than a couple of hours, though they seem to be relaxing a bit (or my butt is getting used to it) in the last year or so.

If she's not used to these kinds of cars, I would get her a ride somehow.

I had a form fitting cushion made for the seat in alcantara with Rossi stitch. Mde from a material similar to astro memory foam.
The difference in seat comfort is remarkable. Even absorbs the terrible bumps in the roads here in the northeast
Forgot to mention, only used for long trips..not spirited drives lol

My wife was fine on a 3 hour drive. The car is not loud if you are just cruising and there is plenty of room. Seats are comfortable to both of us, they are the large size.

My wife loved the 599 GTB. Didn't last 10 min. in the one and only ride she ever took in the Scud..... Which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view:)>)!

    Few problems:
    - my wife wants to chat while I want to rev...bad combo
    - really stiff...3-4 hours is tough for a passenger
    - metal floors are hard on the high heels shoes

After we took the car out for dressed up dinners a couple of times, I concluded that I need a GT for couple outings (a 599, Maserati gran turismo or any Aston)

It depends....if you're cruising for 3-4 hours the Scud is very comfortable and noise is minimal in 6th gear. In soft suspension setting, the ride is not bad. If your wife is expecting any comfort in comparison to other luxury sports cars, it maybe too raw for her. My girlfriend is still not getting over the fact that there's no carpet on the floor of the Scud...sigh....

Well, have had the Scuderia for about a month now. My wife has yet to ride along for longer than 15 min. However I do have another data point...

I took one of my wife's friends (another lady) for a spirited 1 hr drive through some back country roads. We were able to have a conversation the entire time unless I was hitting higher RPMs. The car with soft suspension setting seems quite civilized. I'm still learning how to modulate the brakes carefully in traffic, so I'm sure I jerked her around a bit.

At about the 45 min mark, she asked if were were headed home soon, to which I replied yes. She let me know that she enjoyed the experience, thought the car was awesome, loved the sound, etc., BUT her rear had just about had enough of the seats!

OK, these seats are clearly meant to hold you in place, and are designed for weight savings vs. comfort. Her suggestion was to keep a pillow or cushion in the boot so its always available for lady passengers. Now I will also add that both my friend and wife are petite and fit, so not much extra padding.

My friend knows that after Christmas, my wife and I plan on taking the Scuderia for a 3-day trip from San Diego to Los Angeles / Malibu. She said my wife would definitely appreciate / need a cushion for such a trip.

I'll report more aftet the LA trip.

    Cheers,

    DL

That will be a fun trip. I was just in LA for vacation last week and drove to Malibu then down to SanDiego enjoying the views and Pacific Coast Highway. Beautiful. Too bad I had a mustang loaner and not my Ferrari, but I still can't complain about using a convertible in Dec :).

    Enjoy your Scud!

I have had my Scuderia for 12 months. The wife hasn't even sat in it, much less gone for a ride or drive.

My girlfriend and I had a heart to heart talk while looking at a 458 and California at the Wynn Ferrari last month. She finally confessed that she hates my stripes because it makes the white color not even on my car. I nearly dropped dead right there! Then she commented that while we're on the subject....she hates the glass panel engine cover....because it also distorts the white throughout the car....I nearly dropped dead again! LOL... She then finally pointed to the white California and said, "See, that car looks nice, and it has carpet and nice seats!"....I think she misses my Turbo S!

Whoa. I better color myself lucky. When my wife saw the inside of a bare CS/Scud she reached for the carbon fiber door panel & said "ohhh I like that"

'bout a month later we had our own.

    Got you all beat.

Bought my shiny mint Rosso Corsa Scud without having any prior discussion with my wife.

Picked it up and parked it in my 2 car garage and waited for the wife to come home that night.

(We come in and go out through the garage rather than the front door because it is more convenient.)

Unbelievably, my wife never even noticed it parked in the garage and after 2 days I had to ask her if she noticed anything different in there.

    What a woman !!!!

    +1.

I have not only had this happen... but even went from 20 ugly factory wheels on my Range Rover... Put colormatched and brushed 24" wheels on the car... both of my cars are the garage vehicles.

So I have a buddy come over a week later. He comes in throught the front door. Note that she and I ALWAYS go thru the garage, it's much easier.

So he goes, lets go to the garage, I want to see the new toys. We go out there and come back in like 15 minutes later.

She looks up from reading on the couch and says... what toys were you showing him?

I said.. uh the wheels on the RR.

She goes, 'what, is something wrong with them? they seemed fine to me'

I said... um... did you not notice that they were slightly different than the old ones?

'oh nope?! What is different about them?'

    HAHAHAHHAH.

Women ARE from Venus, and clearly they don't have cars there.

And when they come in with new shoes every month, I couldn't tell you which are new/old/hip/dated.

A couple of months ago I drove mine 450 miles with only a quick stop for gas. I do have some cushions (from California car covers, I think) in the seats, and I was quite comfortable. Did not have a passenger, though..

    Best, Paul

I traded in a 2004 M3 6-speed convertible (don't hate!) for a 2009 Scuderia almost a year ago. Compared to the M3 she found the Scud's ride (I softened the dampers, natch) softer and more compliant than the BMW's. She does however comment on the noise, especially for those standing behind the car!
