Terrible accident in Arlington today. And the driver who caused it all shot and killed a good samaritan who was coming to give aid to the two twins in the back seat of the Escalade the gunman was driving and crashed.

I spoke with one of the investigating officers a very short time after the wreck and he said the suspect was actually laughing and shouting to the crowd that had gathered as he was being taken away by officers. He shouted out that he would do it all over again, given the chance........And his three to four year old twins were strapped in their car seats in the back of the Escalade he was driving. One crawled out an open window, fell on the ground and crawled on hands and knees across Collins until a bystander ran out and pulled the child to safety. Two guys came to the Escalade to help out and the driver pulled a gun and shot the one on the driver side in the head and killed him...........awful stuff.

It started when the Escalade sideswiped a Tahoe further back on Collins and the Tahoe started chasing the Escalade. The Escalade driver pulled a gun and fired at the Tahoe and the Tahoe driver pulled his own gun and returned fire......Then the Escalade hit the back of a Dodge Durango driving the bed of the truck into the cab of the truck killing the driver instantly. Total insanity....

I am truly disturbed to read this.

The guy is either insane or on drugs.

From the duel links provided: "Police said the 27-year-old Arlington father was intoxicated, though NOT by alcohol." Yet a tox screen has not been released yet I believe?

Yes I also agree that a rope is too humane for him but hopefully he will get a death sentence. Then again I have issues with that simply because he could sit on D/R for years and years costing us taxpayers a huge sum of money and that is something that really gets my goat!

Just too bad that the other good samaritan wasn't a CCW and could have saved us the trouble after the idiot killed the one guy.

    Nonsense!!

The rest of the states have just as many lunatics as any other state, we just do not allow our 2nd Amendment Rights too be infringed upon as easily as other states. Also nothing has been mentioned if this guy had a CHL which gave him the right to carry, he could have been carrying illegally if he was a convicted felon or deemed mentally unstable or has a history of family violence. His actions were not of a drunk but of someone who was under the influence of some illegal substance and I know this from experience, I have arrested atleast 100 people IN COURT who were frickin high as a kite aswell as a few during patrol.

We need to wait for more information aswell as not turning this into another Texas bashing thread. Sorry I love my state so I defend it when I feel it is STILL deemed as "The Wild Wild West".

    Little too much defensive posturing????

Yeah the guy is real waste of skin, I used to live not far where this happened so in a way it hits me close to home.

Here's a video of someone that just drove up while the cops had their weapons drawn.

I wish he could or would have panned over to get the suspects vehicle in view as I see alot of no no's from the PD onsite, it seems the officers are constantly in the line of fire and are just walking around blatantly. Vey confusing.

Everyone's a critic.... unless you were there it's probably best not to criticize.

I'm sure they did what they felt was necessary with what and who they had available, they got the guy without harming anyone else it seems.

I have pretty much given up on the whole Good Samaritan thing........it comes to something like this with amazing frequency, here.

If it was a good looking babe I'd be looking both ways for a shakedown.

This guy deserves what he gets, but the poor kids.....crawling off down the street.
I wonder how they will recall that.....

I guess the last time was jumping in to help an old guy that reminded me of my own Dad.
His Lincoln Continental had impacted a power pole, hard.

Once the firefighters arrived they would not take over (direct pressure on the arteries) until they had all their infection gear on.......:D

    Rather drove home the point.

I just went back to work and washed me hands....:D :D :D

After a buddy of mine pulled over to help, what he thought was, a mother and young daughter late one night that almost cost him his life I doubt I'll ever stop.

It was a setup to jump and rob him. He had just finished up his service and tour in Iraq. Fortunately his senses were still very high and he was able to fight back.

A guy was murdered on the Pierce Elevated years ago, stopping to help.....

I let Safe Clear handle it now.....

Of course this situation WHO would suspect someone coming out of a crushed truck like that blazing....it was an Escalade though..:D :D :D

Why are people not sent away and the intersection shut down??

    Look like sloppy police work.

did you watch the video? they were redirecting traffic, and people came right back with there video cameras...

Probably just happened and didn't have enough cops to help out yet. I'm just guessing based on common sense....

I love how these cops put there lives on the line to get that guy and all you and the other dude think about is what a crappy job the cops are doing based on the little you saw on youtube.

    You got some nerve.

Yeah I watched the video. at the end of it I see a ton of police cars in the back.

My point was that there had been a shooting going on and no one knew if more was coming, So why let people drive through the carnage. They are certainly not out of danger when being directed through the intersection. Neither are those waiting. Any of them could have been hit by a stray bullet had it come to more shooting.

As a LEO I was just pointing out what seemed to be a few errors (I could be wrong) and as a LEO I feel I have earned the right to critique such things. Criticizing I was not..

I think it is you who have alot of nerve as I have put my life on the line everyday since I became a LEO but I guess that is irrelevant to you since I do not live in your neck of the woods?? Rant over and have a good day.

A few errors possibly, but why do you feel the need to publicly point them out?

Not irrelevant, I appreciate what you do for your community, that's one reason why I'm defending these "sloppy" cops. Just think in light of everything that took place and the loss of life that already happened, a little appreciation for what these guys did is in order and not "critiquing".... but whatever you will do what you want.
