Not sure where else to ask this question, maybe wrong thread, but in the last Cavallino 185 Shetty was shown on page 18 in the 512s with a shifter on his right, on page 15 there was what appeared to be a mirror on the roof. My question, did this car have a periscope type mirror? When, and if where they bared from competition?

My more serious question is, do all right seat cars have right seat gear shifts? I was under the assumption the gear box control always remained in the middle and did this have an effect on reliability?

Each and every prototype car I've ever seen, sat in or driven has the shifter on the right. Regardless of the seating orientation. Until they went to paddles, that is.

even if you sit in the right side? weird, seems the linkage would be off?

would that not just add one more "link" to reliability? seems like it would add more stress to an already stressed component in an endurance racer, not to mention more weight for the link. Hell, what do I know, I am a simple lawyer, not a mechanic not engineer. I am sure they already discussed this.

Thanks guys for you prompt answers.
