    Hello,

I'm in SD County as well, and also a new Ferrari owner. I would also like to see / participate in more local events. SD FOC is an option. Also, the C'Bad saturday morning gatherings can at times be well attended by F-car owners. Personally, I enjoy seeing the variety of cars that show up, and see everyone's pride of ownership regarless of brand. Ocassional a drive occurs afterwards, but seems somewhat ad hoc.

    Check out this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=202689

It started out as the last Saturday of the month, but I think it may be every Saturday now. The meet is at the Carlsbad Outlet mall.

    Cheers,

    DL

Welcome to Ferrari Chat Daniel! There are quite a few fantastic events, drives, etc. going on in San Diego and a lot of enthusiasts in the area. Bella Italia and the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance (both upcoming in April) are two not to miss for 2012. Symbolic Motors has had open houses in the past featuring many classic Ferraris, F1 cars, etc. and FoSD has tech sessions on occasion; the last one I attended featured the 458 Italia and 599 GTO.

There are a few guys in the area that put together local drives; many of them start info threads here, or feel free to send me a PM. Congrats on the car!

    Hello Gentlemen,

    Congrats on your purchases !

There are a couple of us in the San Diego area that would gladly meet. Currently, I am discussing upcoming events with FOCA and would be great if more of us got involved.

I don't want to diss FCA but they are pretty LA centric. I've found that the Ferrari Owners Club SD Region has more to offer locally. There's also "independants" like myself, Dennis Pinn and some others who occasionally put together drives and post or announce them on this SoCal forum. Last one I organized was in September and was a re-run of a particularly good route done in February. I have found that it's a fair amount of work to pre-run a route, make sure the route instructions are clear and correct and getting everybody to agree to a date. The SD BMW club did a run that was well received up and down Palomar Mountain which I'm thinking of offering but it's heavily patrolled nowdays so I'm also looking at the well travelled run to Julian/Sunrise Highway. San Diego has some great roads but on summer weekends they are often awash with Harleys, Vettes, etc You might want to check out local club's websites - they mostly won't kick you out if you're not driving their particular brand of iron. PM me your contact info and I'll be sure and let you know if I decide to conjur up a run.

    Steve,

FOCA has reached out to become more involved with the San Diego region.

I've spoken with a couple of their members and are quite enthusiastic about the San Diego Group. Obviously it will involve participation from those of us in the SD Area.

Just keeping some options open for those interested

I am planning an Open House in January to our Virtual Race Center in Oceanside, and would be a good time for those of us in the area to meet and express our preferences.

    Seasons Greetings to ALL !

When I first bought my Maserati GranSport in 2007, I did a few events with FOC SD. They were fun. I also did the inaugural Targa Trophy drive out to Palm Springs. Then I went on a couple of drives that were organized by a few young guys who posted on the forum (nice mix of cars). Met up for lunch in Encinitas, then drove out to Palomar.

Since then I really haven't done much. Now I have a new toy and looking forward to driving again!!!!

Cheers and happy holidays to all!

    Enrique,

Good to hear from you! Your commitment to the marque and active participation are always appreciated. Would love to attend your open house - please keep us informed. Also glad to hear that we may no longer be the red headed stepchild fo FCoA in SoCal. There's not only SD area to consider but also Riverside/Temecula. Scott Wazie and I shared a drive in Temecula last summer on some really great roads in his area. What fun! Proved to me that you don't always need a 15 car parade - just a few guys who want to get out and drive like crazy for a few hours. Maybe I can lean on Scott to put something together.

    Best Wishes for the Holidays!

    Steve

Tom Brockmiller and Jack Curtis from the FCA drove to Oceanside today for a brief meeting, and to discuss future participation and presence from the FCA and membership in the San Diego region. I agree that we must include Riverside and Temecula.

I do believe that with the level of participation shown at some of our drives, and the enthusiasm expressed from the Drive(s) participants, a SD/T/R FCA group can be formed.

Anyone in the the aforementioned area that may have an opinion / suggestion, feel free to comment.

Seasons Greetings to all, and .......Drive Safely !

Damn, I think its time for a San Diego meet/drive. Is everyone gone for the holidays or should we plan something before the end of the year. Maybe meet SD north and head up to Temecula or Cuyamaca. I'm game!!

    Hey guys :)

I'm just waiting on my car; Finally got it to pass smog! Should be ready this week, so I'll be game for some drives! Yes...Temecula has some cool areas; in fact, a really nice drive/destination is Idyllwild; kind of the Julian of Riverside County. Of course, probably not the best time of year to be headed into the mountains, unless we can all predict a Santa Ana! But...come spring? Then again, what's forty degrees to fellas like us?! I wouldn't mind...carbs love cold weather ;-) Anyway...Steve...Eric...and other, let's try to plan something.

    My best,

    Scott

Looking forward to the drive. I'll be passenger in my F355 since I am still recovering from shoulder surgery. I have a buddy that is dropping by every couple of weeks to drive me in the car. It has been 6 weeks since I've driven the car and hopefully in another ~3 weeks I can get back on the backroads as a driver. Thanks Eric!
