I started with 65miles when i picked up my 458 from RTGT on friday late afternoon. I navigated traffic home and started getting a taste for the 458, mind you this is my first time behind the wheel of a 458 and it was mine after a long wait and the nerve racking process of picking my options. She gets parked and Im not ashamed to say I just stood there staring, admiring, lusting and now wanting to go for a drive. But alas work had exhausted me the last week and I needed sleep so I headed upstairs and passed out. I woke up around 5am and realized there was no more sleep to be had, I had a brand new ferrari downstairs that needed to be experienced. So i decided to go jump in the car and go introduce myself to my 458 and learn everything there is to know from Portland to the beach.
Slipping into the race seats, I felt at home the red leather and black alcantara surrounding me I was assured it would all be alright. I scooted the seat up, finding that perfect position of where my knees weren't overly bent and my arms could grip the F1 inspired wheel confidently and comfortably. I put the key in the ignition, click 1, click 2.....a whirring sound emerges as the car lets me know she might've been sleeping but go ahead push that red button, the one that instead of just saying "engine start" should say "Instant Orgasm". A sudden rush the car barks to life, the RPM's holding above 1K as she warms herself up and telling you everything is ok.
Push the auto button, pull the left Carbon Fiber paddle back and the parking brake disengages, the word HOLD is light up in front of me. I jokingly think Hold what? as i depressed the gas pedal and off we went on our maiden voyage. I drive through the now empty streets of downtown portland heading to the highway, listening, wondering if people in their apts or condos could hear this V8 symphony as it echoed off the dark metallic buildings. I see that mannetino staring at me, teasing me that there was something hidden and sure enough the car above 3K started sounding like a Ferrari, a proper Ferrari. There is nothing I can compare to knowing I was the conductor, first chair violinist and part of the audience of this rolling orchestra.
On the highway finally reaching some curves I was alone, it was dark, scary but far from lonely. I started getting comfortable shifting through the gears feeling the transmission kick my butt every shift. I was introduced to my first tunnel and flying into it I decided to brake hard, holding the downshift paddle, how can i explain this without having to put a NC-17 rating before you read this. Ahhh screw it, she grabbed me, pantsed me and made me ummmm you get the picture. I was in love, i wanted to cuddle but she wanted to keep going, screaming, making me tingle and I was sure the cops would get called. She downshifted and blipped the throttle down every gear till 2nd and then i gunned it shifting at redline seamlessly up the gears. I navigated through the curves pushing myself and the 458 learning her limits were well beyond mine on these dark cold roads. I couldn't heat up the Pirellis to save my life so i eased back and just enjoyed the ride.
I finally reached the beach before the sun had come up and I got out and sat there sitting and staring once again in awe of what i had just done, I had bought my very first ferrari and it was still so surreal. No other car has given me this type of joy and im afraid im tainted, she took my virginity in that tunnel and there is no getting it back. So I didn't drive any other car this weekend, i ran my errands in the 458, i did back road jaunts and I got lost at the coast. Im not sure there is a way to explain this car to somebody without some dis-justice.

So how many miles do I have now? 900 glorious miles, I realize ill probably not drive her as much as I did this weekend. However it is 900 miles Ill never forget and Im so glad I've been afforded this opportunity. She is back at the dealer right now getting clear bra installed and checking on a check engine light i got for a heater catalyst out of range error. But i can't wait to get behind the wheel again, Im spoiled and I love it, but i won't promise my pants will stay on!!!

Sorry no good pics, just some crappy phone ones, ive been too busy driving. But Ill take detailed pics of the interior and exterior soon!!

That was a thrilling narrative, as I know Portland and the Coast. Wish that it were me driving!

As it is, I am sitting here with a grin on my face and somewhat of a woody...........

Great story, but I would have put the clear bra on before a 900 mile drive. Congrats, felt the same the day I got my first Ferrari.

That's crazy, why buy the car if you do not drive it? Saving it for the next guy?

My threesome stories don't even compare to getting to drive a 458. Less awkwardness, not as much chaffing and there isn't that moment when you realize the two girls forgot you were in bed with them.

Seriously, if you're not a writer...it's time to think about an additional career. Best write up I've read so far on the 458.

NICE way to break her in! ;-)

I felt the same way when I got my little horsey. Drove it 500 miles the first weekend with the wife.

Great and glorious write-up; I loved reading it! Enjoy in good health!

So as some might know i tried ordering the grigio corsa limited edition wheel with the car and was told it was not possible and had to be ordered through the parts dept. Which i ended up doing and then stripping the wheel and painting them scuderia bronze/gold.....the end result (i kind of wish i ordered red calipers now but im still liking the yellow behind there) I also wrapped the new wheels in PSS tires

Again sorry for the iphone pic i just got her back from the dealer once again, I had a misfire issue that resolved itself for the time being, but most likely a bad coil.
