Anyone tried one yet? Impressions? I must say I like it a lot. I saw a couple on the streets already and it looks great. Understated, classy and yet sporty. Perfect DD IMO. A friend should be taking delivery in a couple of months and I'm looking forward to trying it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great car and a huge improvement over the E60. Reminds me more of the E39 which is one of my all time favorites. If they made it as an AWD wagon it would be perfection.
I must, however, say that the new CLS63 looks stunning and sounds much better... I drove the new CLS63 a couple of months ago and loved it. The car has so much character. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another car I am really looking forward to is the M6 Gran Coupe. This car with the M5's drive-train will be a true gem. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMHO, BMW should go back to its wonderful I-6 in its M cars. I have owned an e34, e39 and e60 M5, and the e34 was the best built, most fun to drive, best looking and best sounding.
I LOVE straight sixes. I've had 2 BMWs and 3 Jeeps with a straight six, lots of torque and they sound better than a V6 (IMO). it's half of a V12 they fell out of favor due to packaging issues, but I wonder if the new Euro hood height laws might have created the space needed for a straight six.
Count me in as a fan of I-6 engines, especially in the M series. At one time, I owned 2 I-6 cars simultaneously (my Jaguar E-Type and my 240Z).
I hope you never have to sit in the back seat if you are tall Changed my opinion of the CLS completely.
I've heard nothing but praise for the new m5. I suspect it will live up to the standard m5 expectations, that is, become the new benchmark for performance sedans. Just wait until tuners get their hands on it. 700hp in a daily driver is just around the corner. I just wish they could get the gas mpg up a bit.
all around agree on a "touring" "shootingbrake" "wagon" but this styling and interior is so bland, I just can't see myself looking at new BMWs again for a long while.
It was mentioned/reported that the US will also get a manual version which is great but makes me wonder....will it be 6-speed manual or will they attempt a 7-speed manual like Porsche now has in the 2012 Carrera?
From having seen it in the flesh at a C&C, I can assure you it's a 6 speed. The car was brought by a rep from BMW USA and said it was the best BMW he has ever driven. It was the same color blue as in the original post and the interior was a light beige. On a side note, the interior of these cars is a little bland. I'm all about simplicity but it's verging on boring.
Here's one of the pics. Not a great one though. You can see "distributor" on the license plate. Image Unavailable, Please Login
