    :D

Some pretty interesting stats in there......

Overall, I'd have to say the DRS appears to have worked pretty well - More moves (45%) but not too many artificial back-and-forths. [Sorry Viz! ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Could have written the third paragraph with my eyes closed. ;)

And a big thank you to Fast Ian for delivering on our bet and then some ! Lovely to receive the best of California just before Christmas. I am beyond tickled pink to be quite honest. Thanks again Ian (and special mention to Sean), hoping you and yours have a terrific holiday season !

I would love to see stats of who finished lower than starting grid position...

Good to see the Old Boy Number 1 at this. Lets hope he gets some wins and podiums next season, I was bummed in Canada as I thought at least he would finish 3rd.

I agree and still believe he has what it takes for both.

    :p :)

Now there's an expression I haven't heard in a while! I actually told Sean to choose his poison too as a small thanks from me, but it seems it all went to you - Thanks again to Sean from me.

The purists will probably say you should now allow it to "settle" for a few weeks - I say just drink the damn stuff!

    Cheers,
    Ian

    +1

*If* they can give him a decent car, he'll be back.... IIRC, Is even declined to re-up the bet for next season! ;) The old boy's getting there!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Please correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 2012 chassis all new? MS imho is physically and mentally above 98+% of the current drivers in the field.

Yep - They'll all have new chassis' next season. It's *very* unusual for a team to run the same tub two years running these days.

The FIA have also tightened the restrictions some - Now, you've gotta pass the crash tests prior to being allowed to test. AFAIK, only Caterham (!) have done that so far.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

I hate to be pedantic, but he couldn't be above more than about 95% of the current drivers in the field, and even then only if he was the number one driver! :)

    Have a great Christmas.

You're on! Nico has given his personal thumbs up he's ready to make it three in a row. Case of Guinness I believe ? You already know my preference, Russian River Valley! ;)

    Top over-taker:

The fastest consistant drivers qualify near the front, and finish near the front.
Vettel and Alonso probably have very few overtakes to their names.

Doesn't top overtaker reflect more accurately on who moves back up through the field the most because they:
Qualified poorly, but raced well, or
Incurred the most drive-through penalties, or
Couldn't stay on the track very well, or
    Had the worst pit crew?

The more interesting stat would be how many times he held off a much quicker car. Per those standards he is ahead of everyone by a country mile.

Unless being lapped, that would mean by Nico, Rubens, a Force India or Virgin, Simtek, EuroBrun or Theodore...;)

PS: Next year, I think he'll be able to hold Kimi at bay (if that becomes an actual concern)...;) .

    Merry Christmas FP !

I've said the same thing a few times this year. MS seems to qualify worse than his car should manage, so he's overtaking slower cars all the time. Still...it's a statistic!

Michael is doing an excellent job with Mercedes F1 car development, and has nearly landed on the podium several times.

haha! Compare things to how many times Nico could hold off a quicker car for more than a couple turns. Never happened. Brackley knows who their top driver is.

    Cheers,
    Ian
