I saw a BRG 211 in the paddock at the LCUSA event at Laguna Seca; it was gorgeous :)

all the matte colors are played out, I'd avoid that. unless you have a racing suit by Ed Hardy.

i always liked the classic lotus colours myself; british green and yellow, or the red/gold/white type 49 :)

That would be my choice ! Or if you wanted to vary it , reverse the green to yellow then trimmed in the green.

I was competing in that event earlier this year in LCUSA.
I saw that car as well...it was super clean with only 700 miles on it. The guy was selling the car...I made an offer but he was asking for a bit much, so I ended up with this one after selling my Elise.

I wouldn't go for too much orange, as it would make it look too much like the old McLaren racers. Blues, greens, white, with some yellow or blue--these work best in my opinion. Black swallows up the details, but you can use it to make the eye follow specific lines, or to highlight something in the middle of a sea of black. Red could work well too. How about black and silver? That looks good on the 340Rs.

Interesting car. Looking at other websites, I see that Lotus offered them with headlights, etc., for a street legal option too. Is that an available option for the US, or were the ones with headlights not sold in the US. What I am asking is, was there no street-legal version of this car for the US?

    Thanks!

Yes I believe there are about 27 that were shipped to the U.S. - none of which are street legal unfortunately stateside. In the U.K., they are all street legal.
Interestingly, I have a close friend who will be making similar style 211 clams to modify Elises - thus converting them to "211" street legal cars.

STUNNING! My close buddy is painting his the gulf blue/orange stripe theme.

New they are around $80k, used market around $65-70k, though there are very few state side. There is only one 211 GT4 in the country. Lotus stopped making the 211.
No titles on these cars as they are not street legal.

In the UK, to be street legal, they would need to pass MOT. For that, one would have to buy the legalization kit for an extra thousand pounds or so. They are not street legal by default. Not sure, but it sounds like you are saying they are?

Very interesting to hear about your friend's project. If he makes this kit, how much is he planning to sell it for? How difficult would it be to install? Got any contact information or website details?

Hi Zack, you are correct. I meant to say a street legal version for the UK is available.

They are in the early stages of creating the clams. My friend is going to convert his two Elise's into "211's". There will likely be CF version clams made to save weight. I don't have full details yet but I can certainly give you updates.
There have been others who have "chopped" the roof and pillars of an Elise to convert it to an open cockpit Elise. In fact one is for sale at RMotorsports.net in Baldwin Park, CA

As you are leaning toward White . . .

    Invert colors [Like a Negative]

    Yellow will become Blue.

    Change Blue to BRG.

If so inclined, put Lotus Yellow here and there.

I would not change a thing concerning the paint scheme as I would try to seperate myself ie 'be original' with my on-track results, jmho.
