Anyone know where I could procure a couple of unions similar to the photo? Threads on both ends are M20 x 1.5. One end measures 18mm to the hex, the other is 13mm to the hex. I'd like both ends to be at least 18mm to the hex. I could thread a piece of pipe and weld an M20 nut halfway down it, but I'd rather find a bespoke union if possible. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If I had to guess, this would be the first place I'd look. http://www.metricmcc.com/ Metric Multistandard Company
Steel or SS, and it's hollow, ie pipe. Should be about 1/2" ID, or better. Thanks, they don't show anything like it on their website, but I'll give them a ring in the AM.
Try Adaptall http://www.adaptall.com/products/carbonsteel/9001.html I think the 9001-20-20 might work. I am not 100% sure if that has a hole through... if not, it would be a very simple thing to do on a lathe. If the length of the threaded ends isn't long enough, the whole part would actually be pretty easy for a machine shop to make out of a piece of hex stock. I don't work with any hex nor do I do anything in steel, otherwise I'd make one for you. But if the one from Adaptall doesn't do it, I would imagine pretty much any local job shop should be able to make one for you while you wait for a reasonable price. Can't imagine they could charge you more than $20-30 or so.
Thanks Mike, that's exactly the piece I'm after. That company is a great find. I've sent them an email to get some more dimensional info. Many thanks for the assist!
No worries, glad to be of help. If you don't have any luck, let me know - I can probably put you in touch with a local machine shop in your area that could whip one up for you quickly. I do quite a lot of biz in Texas and know several shops around the state I've done work with and for over the years. G'luck.
