Brian, I was there for the auction on both Lambos - Countach and Silhouette. My friend was there biding on the Countach for Roy and he got the car as you all already know. The Silhouette did not sell at the auction. Roy may have contacted the owner about the Silhouette but did not buy it after the auction. By the way, the owner of the cars told me tonight that the white Jalpa was sold to a Colorado resident so as the red Bora.
Thanks for the info on the Jalpa and others. Yes I saw the Countach and passed. That is all I will say about the condition. The SIL except for a few minor issues... at least in my eyes, was in great condition.
Ahh..ok. I must have misunderstood what Roy told me. Did all the other car related items sell...or just the cars? Brian
If you are holding your tounge for me on the Countach..don't, more then welcome to speak your thoughts. Always good to have multiple comments on a car that is market intended. I dont like suprises for anyone, have nothing to hide. The car needs some work and TLC, but was a good buy and will be brought back to solid standards once it is delivered here to me. It is scheduled for pick up Friday then enroute to me.
Yes, they sold most of the car related items. However, there are still a few framed car poster around. Old green Jag and Porsche 993 twin turbo are still available.
I have detected a minor coolant leak on the top right side of the engine, next to the water pump and near the loose bolt (see photo). No idea where the small bolt came from. I see coolant leaks in the machine surface area next to the nut and the small hose. Dose the small hose carries coolant? Is it possible leak from the base of the small hose? or other sources? Please advise. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Roy, The car outside is great for its age. It just needed more work than I wanted to put into it for the inside. I know some CT are ignored by their owners and others are pampered... this one is in the middle. I am sure with a little TLC this car will once again be in the pampered column.
Small hose does carry coolant. It's a tight one to replace, but doable. Mine was bad as well. Napa sized hose. Step (1) Get some Gunk engine cleaner and degrease the area first. You could pressure test it as well.
That can also be a sign that the water pump leaks, there is a small whole at the bottom... Same as on Jalpa/CT, as soon as water comes out there the joint inside is bad. Since this can harm the engine keep an eye on it.
raymondQV and EarlyCat, I want to thank you both for the info on the coolant leak. Let's hope just the hose and not the water pump.
Is anyone able to identify the sticker on the left? This one is on 40102 but I have similar remnants on my car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Below is a closer photo of the sticker. It looks like AGIP in the middle, cannot make out what is on the first line O...ENE. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks everyone - The Agip font seems to have changed since those days. If anyone knows of a decent looking example of this sticker I would appreciate seeing it...
OK whilst we are on the subject of stickers, my car is one of the few I know of with the original "Lamborghini Urraco" script and shields on the airboxes. These need to be re-powder coated so in preparation I have already had some exact (vinyl) replacements made. The more observant amongst you will have already noticed that the black/white on the bulls are the reverse of the usual printed version! Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of the first posts on this thread was a group picture and I would like to give an update on that. In my first post I estimated around 35 survivors, a number which I will revise. With the help of some other members we discovered more missing cars. At least 41 cars made it to the 3rd millennium, only one car is confirmed as crashed, and 33 are confirmed to exist today. The new estimation is 45 survivors or 80% of the production! Heres the new group picture with 49 cars out of 54 produced ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
According to my first group picture you will see that the car I had as #40040 turned out to be #40072; #40040 is an early bumper car and #40072 is a late bumper car with US side markers (Fiat X1/9 inserts). The car I had as #40044 is now confirmed as #40022. The car under #40056 could be #40066. At this moment we still believe its #40056 because when the pictured car was for sale in 1991 it was mentioned as black interior, #40066 never had a black interior, and mileage was recorded as 45,000, while #40066 only has 38,000 miles today.
