Some of you asked me if there were differences between the 250 TR #17 by V12 Sportmodels and the 250 TRI #9 by MG (note the reference is MG V12 Sport...) that I shown on the first page of this thread. Yep... My BBR NART 512BB LM came today... Its VERY nice. BBR did a great job on the quality and detail . I believe it's going to be a highly desirable model among us the 1:18 F-collectors but its extremely rare and very limited model. Only 100 made! I only saw one on ebay recently.
Thank you, gentlemen. Rob, the racing models do not interest in Asia and I think that's why there are so few on ebay. Only 150 made... Joe, I must take pictures of a F40 with a particular history... gi, I have probably over 300 models still show you. But I suppose you think about a beautiful figure...
One year March 10, 2011 – Mars 10, 2012 For once there are more words than photos... I'll briefly tell you the sad story that resulted in the making of the following model. Three years ago Masanori Akashi (Versus) wrote to me from Japan and announced the creation of a new range of limited edition models with the arrival of the 430 SGT "Versus Premier". After some hesitation, I ordered the "Jim Gainer" version and asked what the next model would be ? With reserves of confidentiality, Masanori told me it would be a F40 GTE. It was both good and bad news for me! Good news, because the F40 is one of my favorite Ferrari. Bad news, because I have twenty different F40 models and six more planned. It was already highly likely that I would have Masanori’s future model… I explained this to him and he offered to paint my model in the color of my choice! This proposal didn’t sway me: I don’t collect variations of colors. Masanori then proposed that I could choose the version that I wanted... Precisely on his website, there is a completed model at a scale of 1/20 which he made with a "Model Factory Hiro” kit: the F40 GTE # 29 Suzuka 1000kms 1996. When I went to Japan I loved it and I also love Japanese writing. This car has a Japanese sponsor... I proposed that he make this version for me at a scale of 1/18. He agreed and assured me that he would take care to make the decals. With his wishes in early 2011, Masanori announced the model’s arrival for the summer. Unfortunately, on Friday March 11 Japan was hit by a tsunami that wiped out Rikusen-takata, the city where Masanori lived and where he had his production studio just beside his home. On Saturday I undertook research to get news about him and his family. After countless attempts to get news of the Akashi family I finally got in touch with one of his friends and the terrible evidence is becoming stronger every day. Only his 11-year-old girl Maria was found alive. The body of his wife Aya and his 5 year old daughter Hikari were found quickly while he and his parents were still missing... 90 days after, as required by law, Masanori, and his father Buke and his mother Kazuko have been declared dead. DNA recently confirmed the sad situation. I had to go to Japan in September 2011 with my friend Franck to meet Masanori… Of course I sent - in Japanese - a letter of condolence to his brothers and daughter. I'm still in touch with his friend Jun who sent to me many photos of his visit on the ruins of Masanori’s home and city. But one morning I had the idea of making a small tribute to Masanori and by completing this F40 Suzuka 1000kms 1996 model. I extensively researched photos of the real car. I, unsuccessfully, asked members of Ferrarichat for help: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=140398899 In Japan I ended up finding and ordering a Japanese magazine with photos of the F40. I ordered two different decals at a scale of 1/20 of the "Model Factory Hiro" and of the "Studio 27". I evaluated the coefficients of expansions to match the decorations from the scale 1/20 to F40 1/18 Bburago. After more than a dozen attempts, five different ones were needed. I corrected several errors in the two reference decals. I had the decorations drawn by a professional. I have corrected them as necessary. I had the decals printed by a specialist. I added a Robustelli transkit and I trusted a friend to assemble the model. I extend my thanks to all who participated, directly or indirectly, to this project: Franck, François, Lamine, John, Bob, Jean, Alexandre. Today I think about you, Masanori. You and your family... Great tribute Patrick !! The pics of this réalisation are very intresting, and your work are incrédible , it's perfect !!! But I have a question .... It's possible to buy this decal ??
A touching story, an emotional tribute, a high quality work as Masanori Akashi appreciated and performed... Thank you Pat. Thoughts for Masanori and his family.
You did well Patrick, he deserved him and the best way of paying him tribute in my opinion is to immortalize the excellent tradition in the Produce of scale models ...
