    ;)

Seems many here want to lay the blame for poor economies, bad weather and computer viruses on Phils doorstep!......

The guy was, and I hope will again be, a very good jockey dutifully supporting Freds title fight. As LdM noted, he was sometimes quicker than Michael - Not often, but he's good, experienced and doesn't often fall off - Unless it's raining or McHam is around. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

A delicate balance. Be as fast as possible but no faster than Alonso.
Hard to motivate some one into second place.

the main reason for massa's performance? the blatant favoritism towards alonso. that's enough to mentally affect him, just as it hurt Kimi's performance when Ferrari was favoring massa.

If there's a clear number 2 there's always gong to be a lack of performance. Look at webber this year at red bull. Mentally he just wasn't there most of the time and you can't blame him.

The only relevant opposition was Vettel. Hamilton at that point was just another driver.

That's exactly how I read that comment: Drive straight into Hamilton.

Did you ever read the "Michel Vaillant" comics? The nasty Dalton Brothers (the arch nemesis of the Vaillants) talked exactly like that. But that was a children's comic, not the pinnacle of motorsports.

Another driver in the WCC which at that time was still fairly close - I'm sure they believed they could catch 'em in the WCC. It didn't happen, but if they'd finished behind Mclaren by, say, a single point I suspect Phil would get the blame for "not fighting hard enough....." ;)

As I said, we beg to differ.

A new one me - Remember, I grew up in genteel ol' England - My comic heros were soccer players......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Emmm... I´ve not read all the Michel Vaillant comics but... the Dalton Brothers? Are you sure you are not mixing Michel Vaillant with Lucky Luke?

    Oops, my bad. :)

Yes, of course, the Dalton brothers were Lucky Luke.

    I meant the Cramer brothers.

PS: Glad to see there is at least one other FChatter who read Vaillant.

Huh, I had no idea: I thought any European kid grew up with comics. Apparently not.
