Not me! Have you ever seen the show? They beat the crap out of that thing. In like every episode they ether jumped it or crashed it. I'd love to see what the Carfax shows.

Easily the most over-rated and re-created heap on the planet.

It's just the thing to give a bunch of guys boners at Barrett-Jackson.

I won't be surprised if some idiot pays six figures for it.

I don't understand the hatred. This particular car is the first, the original General Lee, "Lee 1". Whether you like the show or not, and you are entitled to that opinion, you cannot deny that the show and the car had an impact, and as such is one of the most famous automobiles in the world. Someone will likely pay 7 (seven) figures for it, as befits a unique and irreplaceable piece of Hollywood, automotive and pop-culture history.

Carfax only covers vehicles from 1981-present.

Barrett Jackson always brings out some interesting pieces! I wonder if Daisy Duke will be on stage to assist with the bidding? :D

it was my understanding that they used at least six cars in the show...

It is iconic, but I don't think it's worth a million clams.

I think the 6 cars your talking about are the ones that were actually used for close ups and shots without crazy stunts. I remember hearing that they effed up 400+ cars, although the story above says 300+. what a freak'in waste!

Which one Catherine Bach or Jessica Simpson? I Don't think ether could help the sale at this point. Some things are better left how you remember it.

No hatred, just stating a fact. These cars (there were like a million of 'em) aren't special creations. They were simple movie props, mostly a beater with a paint job. Apparently this one was wrecked pretty good in the opening sequence of the show. How much of the car is still original?

Buy it if you want, it's okay with me. I just can't imagine paying crazy money.

Yes and Archie Bunker's chair is just a prop, and the M*A*S*H* tents are just canvas and wood, not special creations, yet they are in the Smithsonian today, simply because millions of people watched and loved the TV shows they were in the background of. The General Lee was a main character of The Dukes Of Hazzard compared to those other props, why shouldn't it also be considered a priceless American treasure, let alone bring a hefty price at an auction? Certainly the show was just as loved as the others I've mentioned.

As far as originality goes... what is your opinion of Ferrari P4 0846? Apparently that one was wrecked pretty good in one of the races it ran. How much of the car is original? I mean if we're talking percentages of originality meaning something isn't what it once was...

How is it over rated? Because the people that grew up watching the show love the car so much they want to have one? How many guys in the 308 section watched Magnum driving around Hawaii and said "I'm gonna have one of those someday." How many guys with Testarossas today have them because they fell in love with them when they saw an undercover Miami cop driving one on TV?

You didn't like the show, and don't like the car. Doesn't mean that it isn't an American Icon.

If this is really the car that made the first jump it is an icon.

BJ is the perfect venue and it could easily make 1MM+

I read an article regarding the car which stated that is was essentially destroyed by the opening scene jump and discarded. Now discovered and carefully restored to it's pre jump beater status. I think little remains of "the" car.
Every other '69 Charger extant now wears orange paint and a confederate flag so I would think it useless as a museum piece draw as there are sooo many other "actual TV cars" out there that folks already pay to see. It's provenance is only for the most dedicated fan and it's usefullness limited to pride of ownership, this is one of those cars that will always require an explaination.
Like it or not it IS an icon and BJ is the perfect venue for it.
Now, if someone could just restore Catherine Bach

This thing? Hmmm. $700k is my guess. Economy is different than it was in 08 when Bo Duke's car sold. But there is always an idiot out there with more cash than brains. If I were of limitless money, $700k is what I would pay.

    I agree; in 07-08, this would be a $1mm+ car; now, I think it's a $500-750k car.

which still ain't too bad for a Dodge Charger ;)

    LOL! :D

Just saw a short segment about the car during BJ's auction coverage. Looked like a shadetree/backyard restoration. The #1 on the drivers side of the car is totally crooked....if this car even approaches $1M the buyer can go straight to the top of the more money than brains club. And I don't say that just because it's a dodge, I love all cars. I'm just saying the quality does not appear to be there.
