Yes, I noticed that he changed exhausts when I saw the car. I have some very nice pix of a rust color 930 Turbo Carrera that I will post once I dig them up.

    Best regards,
    Dino

P.S. Very cool prototype with tartan inserts and leather straps for door pulls. Ferry Porsche's green Carrera Turbo is my favorite early 930. I was never really a fan of green Porsche's until I recently saw a photo and article on his wife's green 1980 911SC with "Sportomatic" transmission. Now I'm starting to really appreciate green Porsches, particulary when they are badged "Turbo Carrera."

the car only has 28k on the odo, but i suspect it is in not a nice of a shape as you expect for a 28k mile car. if it were in primo shape and wiotht laow miles it should bring upper 40s/low 50s. maybe there is deal brewing on the side.

+1 on the GP white. in hindsight i shouldn't have passed on this Brumos car. it would have made a perfect addition/complimnet to my GP white cab.

i think these are 3 of the greatest and most significant sports cars of all time.

can you summarize how the 3 cars fared against the others?

Peter I think they liked all 3 for different reasons, but clearly the 930 was the most competent all-round best.

The cars belonged to Bill Loughran (at least the Countach was) and were taken up to the Yorkshire dales and if you know those roads I bet the 930 gave the other 2 a really good run for their money..

Funny how a few years ago the early 930 Turbo Carrera was the blacksheep of the 930s, everyone said stay away get the later 3.3 with better brakes and intercooler so forth worth the extra money, but the prices were almost similar to a nice SC at the time, few brought over $20000.

My car had many mechanical mods that eliminated turbo lag the motor spooled up and down like a sport bike, it was very tossable and lightweight, the later 930s feel heavier.

I bought mine around 2003 for $16000, I just missed a 76 that was highly modded mechanically bored out bigger brakes and a great shade of blue and completely stock bodywise for $15000.

I did put $$$ in it repainting and other stuff, put lots of miles on it with road trips.

Great to hear the owner stories! Thank you for sharing.

Funny though, I ALWAYS thought the 3.0 cars were the ones to have, but perhaps that's because I tend to do the opposite of popular consensus!

Seriously though, I have owned only completely unmodified 3.0 cars and found them to be fantastic road cars just the way there were built, but again perhaps that's because my expectations are to enjoy the car with the same characteristics it displayed in the period. When I drive one, I want to go back to 1975 or 1976! So what if there is plenty of turbo lag? I'm patient. That gives me lots of time to check the rear-view mirror to see just who I am about to leave behind in 5,4,3,2,1 :) I take them for what they are, wonderful machines. Turbo Carreras are forever!

    Joe...
Can you explain why there is a difference in the silver versus black window trim and the headlights (H4)..they vary on the early cars. Some cars have silver front window trim and black side window trim and yet others have all black or all silver trim.

    Thanks

    Brian

trust me, jeff has many great stories to share from the days of his 930 ownership. i consider jeff's ownership of his green hot rod as "deliberate ownership"!

let's just say that there were more than a few trips to the desert completed at tripple digits!!

jeff i hope you are well my friend!!

joe, you have done a tremendous job researching the histories of the miura, countach, 288 and f-40. i suspect there is a direct correlation to your work and the rising values of the aforementioned.

i am so pleased that you are seemingly taking time to do similar work in elevating the awareness of the iconic (but often overlooked) 930 turbo!!!

this is turning into a great thread and i must say the archival ads are bringing back memories!!!!
